I liked this book start and middle. The ending is awful. I'm still wondering how it turned out. It's very vanilla.
I read this book fresh on the heels of reading McMan's first novel, Jericho. Part of me had expected this book to be somewhat similar to Jericho. It's not. Once I got over that, I thoroughly enjoyed the book for what it is: a romance wrapped up in gritty political intrigue and suspense. Though there is no tidy ending or promises of happily ever after, it's still a great read. I just wish there had been a little more steam.
