Overview

It's 1675, 11 years have passed since New Amsterdam became New-York and Pieter Tonneman as sheriff brought a murderer to justice and fell in love with the Jewish widow Racqel Mendoza. The marriage has made Racqel an outcast in the small Jewish community. If only Tonneman would convert, she might be once more accepted. Tonneman is no longer sheriff, but a business man. When the governor's prized stallion is slaughtered, and more slaughter occurs, the town becomes fearful of devil worship and there's talk of a Jewish conspiracy. Whispers begin that Racqel is a witch, and Tonneman knows he must find the killer before it's too late.

About the Author

Maan Meyers is the pseudonym of husband-and-wife writing team Martin and Annette Meyers. Annette Meyers is the author of eight Smith and Wetzon mysteries, two Olivia Brown 1920s Greenwich Village mysteries, and the stand-alone novel Repentances. Martin Meyers is the author of five books in the Patrick Hardy series. Together they have written seven historical mystery novels and numerous short stories in what has come to be called The Dutchman Chronicles, a series set in New York in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
