I have to wonder why Julie Andrews made this movie. In 1992 her career had rebounded. She had made several hit movies, recorded several grammy-winning albums, and would soon be returning to New York to star off-broadway in Sondheim's "Putting It Together" and then in the long-awaited "Victor/Victoria." It wasn't as if she needed the work or the money. Rather than bore you with the story line, I will only say the movie seems very much like a foreign art-house film. I was surprised when I DIDN'T see subtitles. The story is preposterous and both Andrews and Mastroianni are wasted. The laughs are minimal and, even though I am an Andrews fan, I never watched it after the first viewing (which was tough to sit through). If you are an Andrews fan, you might as well buy this to help complete your collection of her works (I have all available), but you won't like it.
