Overview

Air Force One

In this action drama, Harrison Ford plays James Marshall, a onetime combat hero in the Vietnam War who is now President of the United States. While visiting the former Soviet Union, Marshall gives a speech in which he supports a get-tough attitude against both terrorists and a right-wing general and war criminal from Kazakhstan imprisoned in Moscow, earning him few friends in the Eastern Bloc. While flying back to the United States aboard Air Force One, Marshall and his staff discover that one of the journalists returning with them is actually Ivan Korshunov (Gary Oldman), a Kazakhstani terrorist, who hijacks the plane with three associates and holds the president hostage -- with his wife and daughter on board. Marshall must use his strength and intelligence to keep the terrorists at bay and devise a plan to allow his family to escape to safety, while on the ground the vice-president (Glenn Close), the secretary of defense (Dean Stockwell), and the attorney general (Philip Baker Hall) grapple over what to do and how much control to take in this crisis. Slam-bang action sequences and plot twists fly fast and furious in this nail-biter from director Wolfgang Petersen, who previously generated suspense under water (rather than in the air) with Das Boot.

Great action flick on how a U. S. President can really take charge. Harrison Ford plays the Prez, whose personal airplane gets commandeered by terrorists, and his incredulous strking back and fighting the terrorists head-on. Director Wolfgang Peterson does an outstanding job of alternating between the high-impact action inside the place, and the drama unfolding among the President's staff outside. Outstanding casting of Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close all the way down the line.

I was in 10th grade when this movie came out, and I remember going to see it with my mom and younger brother after it's release. My mom has always loved Harrison Ford, so she was pretty adament about going to see it...and as far as I was concerned, Harrison Ford is the man, so I was certainly up for it too. After growing up on Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc...I was totally up for seeing this movie too. We all absolutely loved it...most especially my mom and I! I have loved this movie ever since, and still continue to watch it on occasion. A bonafide classic, in my book. So, once I came across a good priced blue ray copy of this movie, naturally I scooped it up. Definitely a worth while movie, and most certainly blue ray worthy. This is absolutely one of my favorite espionage/action movies of all time! If you have never seen this movie before, do yourself a favor...watch it! Listed below are other great, classic Harrison Ford titles!

How can you overlook this movie? With it's well crafted mix of story, action sequences and even acting (hats off to everyone), it redefines an entertaining and intelligent movie. This movie just plainly flows with everything mixed in well.

One unforgettable movie casting Harrison Ford. This one I don't mind seeing a few more times again.
