Barb Wire

David Hogan's Barb Wire comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a French soundtrack and a second English soundtrack have been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles on this release. Supplemental materials include filmographies, a theatrical trailer, outtakes, and a photo gallery. This is a good disc, probably better than a film of this quality deserves. Fans of Pamela Anderson will not be let down by this DVD.

'Barb Wire' is really a playful tribute to Casablanca. It is not a serious movie, but I've always liked it. I have heard that Lee put a great deal of effort into this movie, and took personal responsibility when it failed at the box office. I'm sorry it did--it is better than most comedies, and as good as most action movies. It never takes itself too seriously, but it also never admits to being in on its own joke. Lee deserves more credit for her effort here.

In a city of Topeka, a group of men plan to ruin the lives of everyone by making the city infected with an AIDS virus. Pamela Lee saves the day with having an antibody for the disease-infested city. She plays the role of a heroine, by fighting against the evil men. Pamela won that role with complete sex appeal. She plays a stripper that seduces men; her body is her main weapon! Her actions are completely degrading towards women. To play the role of a stripper and just use that for an advantage makes women want to appear sexier just to get the attention of men. The movie does not set exactly the right image for women or young girls. The entire movie was full of horrible acting! Besides the bad acting, there was also the terrible storyline. An entire city cannot be infected with AIDS! And not only one woman can safe the whole city with a small amount of antibodies, which are in her blood! In the movie she¿s just a walking AIDS healer! Overall the entire movie was horrible!!! Barb Wire was a just a waste of film, money, time, and talent!
