I'm not a big sci-fi fan to begin with, but I fell in love with this show the first ten minutes into the mini-movie.(and I haven't missed an episode since) Even if you're not a sci-fi fan this series is gripping because it centers on character development and internal struggles, politics, religion, societal issues, and much more. The characters are so richly portrayed, each with their own flaws and also amazing qualities. (In season 2.5 I especially loved the episode Scar.) Even fans of the old show(yes I've seen it) I think will get into this, because the storyline is so different it's a totally new series with the same names. I encourage you to watch this... you will not be disappointed!! Love it, love it, love it!! "The war is over, the fight is just beginning."

This set is the second half of the second season of the new version of battlestar galactica. Much of the second half of season two was weaker than the phenomenal first half of the season. In particular Black market is a particularly weak episode in which the show writers treat the notion of a black market in a simplistic manner. The addition this season of the Pegasus to the story lines was always disappointing because once it was there, the writers did not seem to know what to do with it. The only time the Pegasus is well used within the story line is in the two part opening to the season, Resurrection Ship. There are some bright spots to this season. One of the episodes features only cylons(sp?) not only does it make for a fun episode but events within the episode tease the viewers into questioning some of their preconceptions about the cylons. The four two parter episodes are a great deal of fun and the season ends with a cliff hanger that has left the fans of the series drooling in anticipation of the third season. Fans of the show will have to pick this one up in spite of some of the weaknesses in this season.

I went into this set with an open mind. I loved the first season and most of the second season, and I really think the acting and writing are excellent, but I feel they started to lose their way here. As the person above said, once the Pegasus was introduced, the writers didn't seem to know what to do. Also, with the Resurrection Ship gone, the Cylons seem to take a back seat to what seems to be the writers' determination to show us that the cylons might be right - we might not deserve to survive. This set is more about personal interactions, but without the underlying mysticism of the earlier episodes, and to my mind it lacks the grand vision: the need to survive, the cylon-inflicted hardship, the sense that there is something worthwhile in preserving the lives of a few humans trying to find their way home. That message seems to me to be lost in this group of episodes. I'm looking forward to Season 3 to see if the writers realize the old story threads are worth picking up again. I think they deserve to be followed to some kind of conclusion, or at least allowed to evolve, not dropped like a hot ratings-potato.

This is simply the BEST Sci Fi series ever produced, and this box set of the last half of season 2 is worth every penny.

not that means what it used to... can't wait to get these home and see the big Caprica battle w/my new SVS sub (bwah-ha-ha) this group of episodes did have a couple that weren't as great as others but this show on an off day is still way better than just about anything else at its best... only thing is you HAVE to see this show in order from the start - don't jump in here w/o having seen 1 & 2.0...
