Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Christina Urban
The final episode of Season 4.0 (2008), "Revelations," was meant to be Battlestar Galactica's last in the event the 2007-8 Writers Guild of America strike continued indefinitely. The fleet had found Earth, only to discover the planet was uninhabitable. Luckily for fans, the strike was resolved, and Season 4.5 (2009) opened with the realization that the years-long hunt for Earth had been futile. Despair and hopelessness prevail throughout the fleet until Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos) seeks to outfit Colonial ships with the superior jump drives of the rebel Cylons, in order to hunt for a new planet. But the Cylons will only agree to the exchange if they are made permanent and recognized members of the fleet. Not everyone in the fleet agrees with this proposed alliance, however, especially those who have lost family members or friends to the Cylons during the war. The enmity between the two factions leads directly to the events of the two-part episode "The Oath," and "Blood on the Scales." In "No Exit" we finally learn the truth behind the Final Five and the history of the Cylons -- just be prepared to take notes to fully comprehend when Sam Anders (Michael Trucco) relates the story. Finally, the three-part episode "Daybreak" brings together storylines and answers questions that have been haunting fans since the miniseries aired in 2003, including the fate of the fleet; what really happened to Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff); the location of the Cylon faction led by Cavil (Dean Stockwell); and the truth behind the mysterious opera house visions shared by President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Athena (Grace Park).
