"This is not the Beowulf you were forced to read in school?" Then don't call it 'Beowulf.' This is so far from the original, it's silly. The unknown author is spinning in his grave.

As the director says with no apology in the special features....this is not the Beowulf you were forced to read in school. They have taken the basic theme and come up with something new. The animation is sophisticated. The story and images have wonderful Mythological themes. Music is superb. Well done, well done.

Overall it was an okay film, the storyline was decent even though it strayed greatly from the original story of Beowulf, but that's to be expected from Hollywood. The animation they used for this film is very good, however I still would have prefered the use of real people, so that it would feel more real and so that they could show more emotion in the film. Overall it is a decent film, but not one of my favorites. Just to warn fans of the poem Beowulf, this film is very different from that storyline.

what were they thinking on the effects? live action would of been fine. and did anyone think that the main guy who played beowulf, just watching from the trailers that he looked more like sean bean? i thought it was him more from his face than voice. would of been better if it was bean as he is fit and doesn't need CGI to fake or further change his appearance and etc. no offense to anyone who does like the film beowulf. i'm not saying don't watch it or anything but just letting you know that i didn't like it. the beowulf in that xena ring trilogy episode was better. so yeah this beowulf seemed weird and thought that maybe he loves screaming i am beowulf! or maybe its the trailer over doing it. jolie was annoying. i want to set the record straight that i'm not saying to not go see the movie by all means go right ahead. judge for yourself if its a movie you want to see or not.

Beowulf dissapointed me, considering the epic that it could have been. The 3d animation surely was top notch for the industry, but it lacked in the sense that the characters couldn't portray true feeling throughout the film, which is an essential portion of the literary work.

Beowulf is an amazing story and an intricate part of our literate history and I was astonished at how much this film got wrong. The plot would have been good enough without the added content that strayed so far from the actul story it became something else. I did not need my soap opera drama to make this story any more interesting and nor did the film. Bad form.
