"Earl Scruggs was arguably the best banjo player in bluegrass, and Lester Flatt was a fine singer and a gifted flat-picking guitarist, so when the two left Bill Monroe's group to start a band of their own in 1948, it came as no surprise that the duo became one of the most popular and respected acts in country music. Flatt & Scruggs rose to stardom as regulars on the legendary Grand Ole Opry radio show, and in 1955 they moved to the rising medium of television, headlining a weekly TV series that was syndicated throughout the South. The Best of the Flatt & Scruggs TV Show, Vol. 8 features an hour of highlights from episodes recorded in 1960 and 1961, including the band's famous commercial jingles for Martha White Flour and Pet Condensed Milk. Songs include ""Foggy Mountain Special"", ""If I Should Wander Back Tonight"", ""Turn Your Radio On"", ""Little Cabin Home On The Hill"", ""Mountain Dew"", ""Steel Guitar Chimes"" and many more."
