Bruce Almighty is definitely one of those uplifting movies that gave me a feeling and determination to keep watching again (at least once every 1-2 months). One of the reasons; Bruce Almighty stars Jim Carey as Bruce Nolan. He enjoys his job as a television promoter but wants to aim higher in his career. He ends up going through an initiation process of reinventing himself after an experience where he reacted with extreme shock (on national television)after he found out that his rival Evan Baxter (Steven Carrell)got the job he wanted and is sitting next to a coworker named Susan Ortega (Catherine Bell) who he slightly admires. At the time Bruce Nolan was standing next to some type of cruise ship boat called Maid of the Mist and out loud sarcastically confused one of the woman he was interviewing for someone who was on the Titanic and Katherine Hepburn’s mom (with a light-hearted and respectful comedic nod to Kate Winslet). Fortunately he has a caring and self-confident girlfriend named Grace Connelly (Jennifer Aniston) who works at Small Wonders Daycare. Bruce Nolan’s life becomes radically changed after he spiritual surrenders to God and actually meets God (played by Morgan Freeman). God explains to him how things work which is really important as he makes sense of being able to do a Clint Eastwood impersonation, parting tomato soup in a diner, and walking on water. There are numerous pop culture references in Bruce Almighty as well such as when the song Power by Snap plays in the movie as he is using his newfound powers, Never Gonna Give Ya Up by Barry White during a scene involving him and his girlfriend (including Right About Now by Fatboy Slim). There is even an appearance by Tony Bennett in Bruce Almighty where Bruce Nolan takes his girlfriend Grace Connelly to an upscale restaurant called the Blue Palm. There is even a moment of a Mark Twain themed chili cookoff. Please know that I also understand that there were many other strong contributions from other actors/actresses in the Bruce Almighty as well as other pivotal pop culture references. I was just listing what my intuition was guiding me to write.

I think the stunts performed in this movie were outshadowed by the comedic talent of Jim and Jennifer. However, the stunts were excellent and often not easily seen by the average theater goer. However, Stacey Carino's role behind the scenes provided for excellent backdrop to this great movie.

This is seriously one movie I recommend. It is a helarious movie with a very interesting plot/theme. This is one of Jim Carey's best movies. I am very picky about movies and I just loved this movie, nothing bad I can say about it. BUY IT!

When I first heard about this movie, I thought 'this has to be sacreligious.' But Jim Carrey pulled off a movie that was both funny and poignant in the handling of the age old question of 'Why Me, Lord!'

This is simply the best movie of all time. This was not shocking, just because they titled it after the greatest name of all time. BRUCE. I mean, the gigantic shark in Finding Nemo was named Bruce, The Hulk, my talentless ex- boyfriend, and all other monstrous things. My favorite part of this movie is definitely the 3 minute montage where everything says Bruce. For example, Forgive Bruce, and when Bruce's name appears in the sky. In all seriousness, this is one of Jim Carrey's greatest movies. Superb acting, or should I say Brucing. Sorry, I can't help myself. Jennifer Aniston helps the film by showing how in love she is with Bruce. I mean, everyone is in love with Bruce, but she definitely makes her love seem unique. She is America's Sweetheart. This film is original because Bruce is not a gigantic ugly monster, but rather a very loveable man. More movies should be made with such high standards and moral values.

Not only funny, but thought provoking. Answers the age old question: why does God allow that to happen?, and the problem with free will. Bruce has to do some soul-searching. And yet very very funny!

I love this movie so much, I can quote the whole entire thing. As usual, Jim Carrey is hilarious, and Morgan Freeman stepped from a serious flick to a comedy. The lines are memorable, and it is much better than, "O God" starring John Denver, which it seems to be loosely based upon.

I really like this movie. I really highly recommend that you see it. I love it. I think it is one of thouse movies that you watch it over and over again because you know thoughs movies that you watch it, then you never really want to see. Well this is not one of thouse movies. This, you actually want to see it over and over again. Even my mom Kelly and my friend Justin liked it. It is really good. You have to see it. Watch it soon.

What a movie. If you asked for Jim Carrey, you got Jim Carrey. It's sweet and funny, happy and well... happy. I couldn't ask for a better comedy:)!! It's rated PG-13 but it's not that bad when it comes to violence or anything. Jennifer Aniston plays her sweet girl role like there isn't any tomarrow! You go girl!!!!!!!!!

I usually have a hard time finding movies that my 10-year-old daughter, my 15-year-old son, and my 'movie expert' husband will all like. However, we all enjoyed this one with Jim Carrey as a flawed but likeable character who learns that it's not easy having God's powers. This one had fewer gross-out jokes than most of his movies (a good thing!) but was still very funny.

`Bruce Almighty' was Jim Carrey's triumphant return to comedy after scratching the dramatic itch. After delivering such great performances in `The Truman Show' and `Man in the Moon', a return to the rubber-faced, flopping around Jim Carrey feels somewhat dated. Yes, Carrey's antics were getting stale at that time. But, fortunately, `Bruce' is a movie that matures along with him. In this sense it is actually a welcome sight when the movie puts its silly physical comedy in the backseat for the more dramatic exploration of the story's possibilities in the 3rd act. Carrey is showing his stuff here because this story and character is strong enough to have stood in the shoes of another. Shadyac did well to cast the great Morgan Freeman as Alpha and Omega. Freeman brings an elegant all knowing air and a humanistic touch together for an intriguing interpretation of God. Far better and more memorable than just a bright light or all-business interpretation. Jennifer Aniston, as usual, remains the weakest element in the movie as Bruce's live-in girlfriend and proverbial Holy Spirit in this symbolic trinity. `Daily Show' alumni Steve Carrell gets a chance to show off on the big screen although his big trailer moment isn't as funny as the director seems to think. More than its individual moments, `Bruce' is admirable for the creativity and, to be honest, simple audacity of its story. The movie has a clear vision and the script is sharp, intelligent and witty – a rarity in slacker comedies. The movie isn't too enamored with its own cleverness, applying its touches in blotches all over the movie and sometimes in unexpected ways. A subject that, no matter how fanciful it is dealt with by movies, manages to send both traditionalists and atheists into a rage with demands that the movie's view fit into their own. Like `Dogma' and `The Devil's Advocate' it's refreshing to see that this kind of movie can still get made. This movie might not quite top the previous high such as the adult fairy tale `Liar, Liar,' but "Bruce Almighty" is an interesting and entertaining comedy that brings religion as one of its major themes.

Bruce Nolan is an average news reporter, but seems to constantly be cheated by his rival, Evan. However, after a partikualrly hard day, he blames god for all of his misforutunes and god appears to him (long sotry short), and ends up giving him his power. At first, he has fun with his powers, but......I don't want to give away thse plot of this excellent movie. Jim Carry does an fantastic job with the film.

I challenge someone to find one of the best lines in the movie (subtle but very, very familiar- hint: it's spoken by Morgan Freeman). It's Jim Carrey doing what he does best- physical, reactive comedy. Yet, it only makes one wonder how one entity has the personal time for each and every person. I do like the email 'prayer' concept.
