Resurection When Buffy died all fans were grieving. We wanted her back, and this season gave it to us. Her resurection however was heart breaking, worse than when she died. Buffy had gone to heaven and was torn out of there against her will. This season shows how strong Buffy really is. Who else could survive returning from Heaven? For all the pain they caused her, by bringing her back, Buffy still tried to protect her friends from the truth. She looked for any reason to live, and by the end of the season she found her reasons being a warrior, guardian, lover, friend and sister.

Don't listen to the naysayers- if you've made it this far in the series, Season 6 is absolutely worth buying. It's the best of them all. Despite some serious flaws - a near-lack of Giles, the silly magic-as-addiction arc mentioned below, and one of the weaker finales of the series (but really, with the exception of Season 1, every Buffy finale was at least very good, this included), its highs are incredibly high, and the show takes some risks that pay off wonderfully. Firstly, the musical episode, which is my personal favorite of the entire series and is included here in its entirety, makes this set more than worth buying. There are so many great episodes in this season, including my favorite continuous run of episodes of the entire series (Hell's Bells - Two to Go). This season is one of the main reasons that Buffy is my favorite show of all time. Go for it. If you made it through the dreadful Season 4, you can make it through anything.

I had to think hard about rating this, because I do like the first half of the series as much as any Buffy season--that is a great deal. I also think this set is worth buying just for the musical episode. Unique in series television, not aired in syndication that I know of, and not sold separately that I can find. There are also some wonderful episodes here like Tabula Rasa I'd place with the best in the series. But Season Six is where I (and several other fans I know of) find things went wrong: In a silly magic-as-addiction arc, in the most irritating villains in the Buffyverse, in The Damn Bathroom Scene(tm) that did wrong by Buffy and Spike both, and in the worst season finale in the series.
