Inspired by actual events that occurred in 1920s-era Los Angeles, Clint Eastwood's The Changeling tells the story of a woman driven to confront a corrupted LAPD after her abducted son is retrieved and she begins to suspect that the boy returned to her is not the same boy she gave birth to. The year was 1928, and the setting a working-class suburb of Los Angeles. As Christine (Angelina Jolie) said goodbye to her son, Walter, and departed for work, she never anticipated that this was the day her life would be forever changed. Upon returning home, Christine was distressed to discover that Walter was nowhere to be found. Over the course of the following months, the desperate mother would launch a search that would ultimately prove fruitless. Yet just when it seemed that all hope was lost, a nine-year-old boy claiming to be Christine's son seemed to appear out of thin air. Overcome with emotions and uncertain how to face the authorities or the press, Christine invites the child to stay in her home despite knowing without a doubt that he is not her son. As much as Christine would like to accept the fact that her son has been returned to her, she cannot accept the injustice being pushed upon her and continues to challenge the Prohibition-era Los Angeles police force at every turn. As a result, Christine is slandered by the powers that be, and painted as an unfit mother. In this town, a woman who challenges the system is putting her life on the line, and as the situation grows desperate, the only person willing to aid her in her search is benevolent local activist Reverend Briegleb (John Malkovich).

The movie is about a mom trying to find her son after he's taken away from her when she left him at home and some neighbor was going to take care of him. Cause she was was going to work late. When she came back he wasn't anywhere to be found. The whole movie she's trying to find her son and believes he's still alive somewhere. Even though people keep on telling her he's long gone. This movie was emotional. Great story. Angelina Jolie is a great actress. I recommend seeing this movie.

Atmospherically "Changeling" draws you in & is engaging. And the acting is taut. However, the movie comes up short on historical fact. Especially, concerning the murders. In my opinion, if you're going to make an effort to educate the public about a "forgotten" LA serial killer from the 1930's, you should give viewers the whole package, and truly educate.

Angelina Jolie just about carries the film on her own. She is very convincing in this role. I had never seen her so warm and sensitive. She very much deserved an Oscar nomination. The fact that the film is based on a true story made it even more touching. The other actors, especially those who played the children, were wonderful as well. This was a period piece; I very much appreciated and enjoyed the way the filmmaker portrayed time and place in history, for example, costumes and sets. I wish I had seen this film in the theatre, but I do not regret purchasing the film for myself.

Angelina did a great acting job in this movie, not as good as A Mighty Heart but she still did a great job. I think the story is what made this movie very good, you're on the edge of your seat the whole time. Other than Angelina, the cast of characters weren't put together too well and some characters were downright cheezy! The movie is still worth watching, the historical setting is amazing, and Angelina is great as always!

In this film Angelina Jolie does an excellent job portraying a mother desperate to find her missing child at all costs and no matter what the consequences. This movie is very inspiring and keeps you intensely engaged throughout the whole story, always keeping you wondering what will happen next. With Jolie's flawless portrayal, viewers feel her range of emotions from worry, desperation, and grief to anger, determination, and hope. Overall, Changeling is definitely a movie worth seeing.
