Overview

Chicken Little

An old fable gets a high-tech update in this computer-animated comedy from Walt Disney Pictures. Chicken Little (voice of Zach Braff) is an earnest young fowl living in the town of Oakley Oaks who one day starts a panic when a falling acorn drops on his head, and he warns everyone that the sky has started to collapse. Chicken Little was wrong, of course, much to the embarrassment of his father, Buck Cluck (voice of Garry Marshall), and now the young chicken is struggling to live down the incident. While his best friends Abby Mallard (voice of Joan Cusack), Runt of the Litter (voice of Steve Zahn), and Fish out of Water stand by him, the school's star athlete Foxy Loxy (voice of Amy Sedaris) never passes up an opportunity to make fun of the diminutive chicken. As a result, Chicken Little tends to keep his more recent discoveries to himself, but what's a bird to do when he uncovers pseudo-scientific evidence that suggests the sky really is starting to fall, in large hexagonal chunks? Chicken Little was directed by Mark Dindal, who previously helmed The Emperor's New Groove for Disney.

My children and I loved this movie- in fact, we have watched it every night for 2 weeks because my son loves it so much- everytime I watch it, I catch another funny reference or comment that I had missed before-very clever characters and the songs were fun.

I loved the movie. My 3 year old was so excited that it was coming out on dvd that we were at the store bright and early to get it the first day. It was nice to see a movie that was truly rated 'G'. I was amazed at the wonderful graphics and the cast is just perfect. It was the best that Disney has put out in a very long time.

At Disney's first shot at CGI, the first time truly is a charm. Even though "Chicken Little" marks the end of an era, it doesn't lose the spirit, warmth, or imagination that defines Disney. The film is filled with incredible music (including the powerhouse duet "Stir It Up" and the anthem "One Little Slip"), some clever jokes, a heartwarming story, unforgettable characters, and a lot of nail-biting suspense. There's even a cute alien-Earthling friendship that echoes the one in "Lilo and Stitch" and an tribute to the 'foot-popping kiss' from "The Princess Diaries". The actors were perfectly choosen and they gave their characters each a unique personality and purpose. I especially liked Chicken Little because he's resourceful, endearing, symapathetic, and brave. I can't wait to see what Disney comes up with next.

The characters looked lovable, the setting fun, and the classic story revisited--all promising, but very disappointing. I could not attach myself to the characters at all and found the movie boring. The concept was there, but never reached its full potential. When compared to other 3-d animated movies like Toy Story and Monsters Inc, which both had such driven plots and characters, Chicken Little falls very short.
