Overview

Collateral Damage

Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in director Andrew Davis' action thriller Collateral Damage. Presented in its original 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio, this is an excellent-looking transfer that sports almost no defects or imperfections. With solid colors, even black levels, and natural flesh tones, this is a dead-on transfer that should please action fans everywhere. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and French. This 5.1 mix is a great example of a tight, bombastic action soundtrack -- with explosions and gunfire rocketing around the viewer, anyone's home theater should get a hearty workout from this rollicking soundtrack. All aspects of the mix are free and clear of any distortion or hiss. Also included on this disc are English, French, and Spanish subtitles. Collateral Damage includes a few well-made extra features, starting with a commentary by director Davis. This is an engaging commentary which features the director's multiple thoughts on the production, cast, and story. Six deleted scenes adding up to about eight minutes show what was cut from the final film (and justifiably so). Two featurettes -- "The Hero of a New Era" and "Behind the Scenes" -- are a brief look at some interviews with the cast and crew as well as some footage from the production. Neither of these quick featurettes gives any real depth or meaning to the film. Finally there is a theatrical trailer for the film and a few selected filmographies of the principle cast and crew members.

I've been a fan or Arnie since his days as Conan and have been able to overlook some of his weaker efforts. This film however is simply boring. Arnie appears tired and old and the film has nothing of sufficient interest to keep interest up. We turned it off before it was over.

This is such a great Arnold movie! I like this one because it shows a great deal of reality. This is not your typical Arnold action movie. Arnold has played all kinds of heroes, agents, or just big tough guys with guns. But this is a very different character. He plays a fireman in this one, which is a real everyday hero. This is a character where Arnold realizes that he's a human being, and he can't just take a gun and blow every bad guy away. This is a movie where he uses bombs, explosives, and his fireman expertees.Arnold doesn't pick up one gun, and he still beats the bad guys!!!

Collateral Damage is an awesome movie. Its got everything you want, action, explosions, guns shooting bullets everywhere, and most of all its got the best action star ever, Arnold Schwarzenegger! Even though Arnold doesn't pick up one gun, hez very good with bombs, explosives, and axes. This is the best Schwarzenegger movie since Eraser.
