DaredevilDirector: Mark Steven Johnson
One of Marvel Comics' most popular characters comes to the screen for the first time in this sci-fi action-thriller. Matthew Murdock (Ben Affleck) is a lawyer whose father, a prizefighter, was killed by gangsters when Murdock was just a boy. Since then, Murdock has devoted his life to bringing wrongdoers to justice and is willing to help others by taking on cases no other attorney will touch. Murdock is also blind, after being struck down by a truck while trying to save a man from being hit. What no one knows is that Murdock was also doused with an unusual radioactive isotope which had a strange effect on him -- while Murdock's sight may be gone, his other senses have been raised to such a keen pitch that they act like radar, allowing him to tell where he's going and what happens around him, both near and far away. Murdock puts his gifts to use at night as the costumed crime-fighter Daredevil, whose pursuit of justice has earned him the wrath of underworld leader Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan). Kingpin wants Daredevil out of his way once and for all, and hires Bullseye (Colin Farrell), a super-assassin with an uncanny ability to throw blades, to do the job. Daredevil also makes the acquaintance of Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner), a woman with super-heroic talents who is also on Kingpin's bad side, though it remains to be seen if she has aligned herself with the forces of good as Daredevil has done. Jon Favreau, Joe Pantoliano, and David Keith highlight Daredevil's supporting cast.

Good cast; expensive production; good reviews; unsatisfying movie. It feels as though important footage that would have made the story ''flow'' got left on the cutting-room floor. The decision to kill Elektra so quickly was baffling. Are they already too bored with the concept to contemplate a sequel?
I love the Comic Book turned Big Screen Movies, like the X-men, X-2,Spider-man, and the greatest remake the Batman Series. But lets be totally honest, the Daredevil Film is very, very disappointing. Ben Affleck is an amazing Dramaitc Actor, but his no Super hero. To be honest on that account, Ben Affleck did a horrible job on playing 'the Man with No Fear.' Also the storyline needed some work, it just seemed to be missing a huge turn of events. The storyline was way to dull, and basic. Plus the villians, also were horrible. I mean come on, the Kingpin and Bullseye. Who the hell is Bullseye?***But now we get the saving climax, Jennifer Garner is the perfect actress for Elektra. She was sexy and action-packed! She saved the Movie, but I wish she could have been in it longer! She is the Star of the Movie! And thats why she is getting her own Movie in next few years, 'Elektra.' Which is going to be great***So all in all the movie is OKAY, but not terrific like 'the X-MEN!'
Daredevil is perhaps the 4th film in a line of on going films based on Marvel comics superhero to come out in recent years. IT all began in 1998 when Blade hit the big screem. Then X-Men and Spider-Man came. So now we have come to Daredevil. Sadly Draedevil does not live up to the standards of the Previous Marvel-based movies. The film does not explain how he got a suit that rivals Batman's or how he got his law degree. The film has a few good fight scenes but a fight between Elektra and Matt Murdock makes no sense with the film and the fact that no one would actually call the police when they are fighting broad day light was something I never could figure out. A final fight scene between Daredevil and the King Pin seems like it was cheaply put together. But for the most part, Daredevil does have a good fight scene with some very good special effects. The acting is good but it feels like they could have done a lot better. It even manages to pull off some good fight scenes.
walk away from this movie. there is nothing to see here.
An A-plus report card brings young Matt Murdock to the docks to show his father. All he ever wanted was to please his dad and, as per his father's advice, "be a doctor, be a lawyer." Except, stumbling upon his alcoholic, washed-up ex-boxer father as a leg breaker, Matt takes off on his skateboard in a hurry, only to accidentally run into a truck with barrels of radioactive liquid that-due to the forklift that just avoided him-has sliced the barrels open, the stuff inside spraying Matt in the face, causing him to go blind. But all is not darkness because he also mysteriously inherited a strange "radar sense" that enables him to see in a sort of X-ray way because of his newfound ability to convert sound waves into sight. Now, all grown-up, he's a lawyer by day and masked crimefighter by night. His name: Daredevil. And he's not the only one who wants a piece of New York. Crime boss the Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) is on the rise, as is his hired goon, Bullseye (Colin Farrell). Adding to matters, Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner)-a shapely martial arts master-has her sites on Daredevil (Ben Affleck) as well, leading us into a battle for New York, for vengeance, and for those who have been a victim of crime. For some reason a lot of people didn't like this movie. I thought it was great. I liked the overall story; the costumes (except Bullseye's); the atmospheric New York City; the sense of darkness Matt Murdock carried within himself; Elektra's close relationship with her father; Foggy Nelson (Jon Favreau) and his being a "come-with" guy-very enjoyable. There was a sense of humanity about this version of Daredevil that I was able to relate to on a lot of levels. The fight scenes were nothing short of amazing, especially that barroom brawl where Daredevil clears the room. I remember seeing that in the trailer and just being absolutely stoked. The whole Matt Murdock-Elektra/Daredevil-Elektra relationship was well-handled, in my opinion, and I particularly enjoyed how those elements intertwined with each other throughout the film. If I was going to criticise a few things-and while I enjoyed Daredevil's gallivanting throughout New York-his spinning jumps and aerial movies were very similar to Spider-Man's (who made his feature film debut the year before Daredevil came out), and some of the stuff Daredevil was able to do was pretty farfetched. I mean, I don't care how awesome you are at acrobatic stuff or if you're more fit than Bruce Lee on his best day, but falling face first toward a window washer's station at lightning speed won't get slowed down by doing a somersault in the air so you could land on your feet. You'd break your legs and die from the impact. But whatever. It's superheroes, so I overlook most of the impossible these guys accomplish. Just goes with the understanding superheroes can do things we can't, whether realistic or not. That's really my only critique. I liked everything else. Wasn't crazy about Bulleye's costume. Would like to have seen him as more of a stealth assassin. I also don't read Daredevil comics so I can't tell you if this is a faithful adaptation or not. I know Daredevil's back story and a bit about some past adventures, but that's about it. I haven't seen the director's cut of this either, so need to get around to doing that. Still a good movie and I'm proud to have it in my superhero movie collection. If you like superhero flicks, you'll like Daredevil.
I liked it so much after seeing it on the big screen that I bought a poster of Ben Affleck as Daredevil and Matt Murdock, you know the one where he has sunglasses on? Ben is like so hot on this movie,I had a major crush on him for a long time after, now again I do after we rented it. My sister liked Bullseye a.k.a.Collin Farril, because he was so cute with his shaved hair and his humor, she says Ben isn't cute though. Jennifer Garner was so pretty with her green eye contacts,I was so shocked when she died the first time I saw it,I was hoping Daredevil had some power to bring her back or something, but there has to be a movie where the girl dies I guess. And how the bad guy lived?Very satifing!I would've let him go too,so I wasn't the bad guy either.
i saw daredevil in theaters it is not that good of a movie i was so disappointed with it i wanted my money back the only reasone i did not complain for my money back was how colin farrell played bullseye he did such a great job at that part but the rest of the movie was just sad. such as how Jennifer gardner died i didnt see why they had to kill her off that only made the movie worse. it seemed like every one ben knew in that movie died well not Kingpin even though he was the main bad guy and he killed bens father in the begining and took the chick that he finally falls in love with and her father. i liked some the action but most of seemed like spiderman though i liked when daredevil was little and was able to beat up those kids that were picking on him. If you dont like sad movies dont watch it but if colin farrel watch it then because he did a great job other wise it was just disopointing
This is one of the best action movies of the year.It beats ''The Hulk'' by a mile, thanks to a believable story and realistic charcaters. Ang Lee should take a long look at this film to see how a good comic-book fantasy can be made.Affleck and Garner give their best performances, while Duncan is a great villain. But Farrell steals the movie, and he is an absolute hoot!Thank you, Mark Steven Johnson and company-and MORE,PLEASE!
I love this movie with ben affleck and my mom and my sister thinks it sunks
I was looking forward to seeing Daredeil, but I was a little disappointed. I didn't think that it had a very good plotline, and the movie went very fast, switching from one scene to another quickly, and it was a little hard to follow sometimes. I did think Colin Farrell did a very good job as bullseye, and I quite liked his performance. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner could have stepped up their acting abilities a little bit, and their relationship went too fast. But the stunts were pretty enjoyable, though some seemed to be taken from ''The Matrix.''
I guess I set my expectations too high for this movie. By the end of the movie I was a little disappointed to say the least. Although, it did have an awesome soundtrack and good actors, it just wasn't enough.
This was a great movie. Ben A. and Jennifer G. were great in this movie. Sad, but good!!!
First, I would like to begin with a statement that if it were possible to give zero, or, even better, a negative number of stars, that is how I would rate this move. I am personally someone who doesn't usually dislike movies, I try not to think of how the acting is and analyze every detail, but there was no way possible to not critique this movie. I've read the other reviews that comment that this is a great movie because it is just like the comic book, well, perhaps this movie is awful because the comic book is. I do not read comic books, so I will not say that the comic is not good, only suggest that it is possible because this movie was absolutely wretched.
I don't understand why nobody seems to love this movie. Granted many of the main charecters have been miscast. This film is the best comic book to film translation EVER. The atmosphere is great and countless seens have been lifted word for word and shot for sshot from Daredevil comics from the Wally Wood era to the present. Appearently many ''Mainstream'' movie-goers don't like this film beacuse of it's dark tone and the fact that unlike other recent superhero films it has not been ''watered-down'' fom it's comic book form. However if you are one of those fans that think that Frank Miller is God (like myself) then you should bow down before the mighty greatness that is this film.
