This movie is a departure from the written sagas but is excellent &quot stand alone&quot entertainment that might inspire one to read the Nibellungenleid Saga and others like the Song of Roland, The Iliand, The Oddyssey, and others. This film is not a documentary on the Sagas but is certainly recognizable to any and all that have read them. To understand the strength of Samon's hair, the mortal weakness of Achilles heel, the helmet of invisibility worn by Hades, and the cloak of invisibility prevalent in the early sagas increases the level of entertainment one gets from this film. It is outstanding. I highly recommend it. Do not miss it.

THIS WAS A PRETTY GOOD MOVIE. IT WAS VERY FUNNY, DRAMATIC, AND EPIC IN DETAIL. IT'S A GREAT ACTION/ADVENTURE FILM THAT PLAYS OFF MORE OF A FANTASY SHAKESPEARE STYLE, SO LORD OF THE RING FANS DON'T GET ANY ASSUMPTIONS. THIS IS A COMPLETLY DIFFERENT MOVIE THAN THOSE FILMS. IT HAS A GREAT CAST AND INTERESTING STORYLINE. I DEFINITE BUY FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES DRAMAS OR NORDIC TALES. FOR ANY ROMANTICS, THIS TALE DOES HAVE SOME MESSED UP BACKSTABBING AND BETRAYAL.

Well, I didnt expect much from this kind of movie. It felt cheap and had no depth. Now if Peter Jackson did it, we could be looking at a good movie. Overall, I feel it didnt live up the old Nordic myth.

For those of you familiar with Norse tales this one fits the bill to a tee. No sappy happy in this story, lots of sneakiness, greed, Loki must be working overtime in the background. I have no idea if this is supposed to be based on a story from Norse myth or if some ingenous writer in the 21st century made it all up, but it works! I won't give the twists and ending away by going into detail, but I will say I thought they did a bang up job of portraying the general feel of Norse tales with all the cultural differences intact.
