David Gilmour: In Concert

This concert video, culled from two acoustic performances by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, has been given a glossy treatment on DVD. David Gilmour: In Concert has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and viewers have a choice of two audio tracks -- one in Dolby Digital 5.1, and the other in PCM Stereo. The disc does not include subtitles or closed captioning. In addition to the concert material, the disc includes several bonus performances, including Gilmour and Jools Holland performing "I Put A Spell On You" with Mica Paris, Gilmore's rendition of "Don't" from a Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller tribute concert, and the guitarist working on a musical adaptation of Shakespeare's " Sonnet 18" in his home recording studio. The disc also has a text section of song lyrics, and a chapter that can be used to test your home theater's Dolby Digital 5.1 settings.

Gilmour is accompanied by an acoustic ensemble that play cello, acoustic guitar, upright double bass, sax, etc. along with many others (e.g., 12 singers); Gilmour himself probably plays considerably more acoustic guitar than electric; location is the Royal Festival Hall. Two well-performed Syd Barrett songs are included, and Rick Wright sings on a great song he wrote that includes a stunning solo by Gilmour. Gilmour's singing and guitar talents are in top-form throughout. The concert has a very intimate feel to it. Seems to get even better with subsequent listens as with most of Gilmour's work. A timeless masterpiece.

What a truly sensational show. Mr. Gilmour at his finest. The Pink Floyd songs are flawless, (not to mention his solo work). It is a honor to have a front row seat to this live show forever. He also gives you a taste of why Blues Music is the heartbeat of all rock music on one of his extra's on the DVD. You must get surround sound in your home to be totally taken by this outstanding show!!!
