Dead Like Me The Movie - Life After DeathDirector: Stephen Herek
The strict reaper rules take a backseat to moving souls quickly and enjoying an existence without consequence when George and her colleagues get a new boss in this feature continuation of the cancelled television series Dead Like Me. There's a new boss in town, and that means a whole new way of operating for George and her fellow reapers. At first it seems like a blessing to see the rules relaxed a bit, but before long the gang discovers that death can be just as complicated as life. Now, while George's friends are all seduced by the allure of success, money, and fame, she makes the mistake of revealing her true identity to her living family. Whoever said death was easy, anyway?

I absolutely love this movie! It's about a group of people that when they died they didn't get to move on but were made into Grim Reapers. They are there when people die and help their souls go to the Light. The movie was a kind of continuation of the TV series and takes place 5 years after the show. The show has always been big on exploring the way these Reapers deal with their undead lives, the things they do, and the way they feel about their job. It is very funny in parts but also very thoughtful. It really gives you something to think about and at the same time gives you funny bits that you will long be remembering with a chuckle. I really have begun to think about the way I live my life and consider what the implications would be in the way that I act if I only had so long to be here. I highly recommend this movie and I hope that if you like it you will tell other people about it too.
Dead Like Me is a great series and the movie takes a great leap into the future from the Season 2 finale. The humor that was ever present in the series is tamed down a little too much, but it's still there, just not in the abundance of the original series. However the fact that Laura Harris was replaced by Sarah Wynter as Daisy Adair was a huge dissapointment. The mer fact that Sarah Wynter is allowed to act or even thought to be a good actress is a serious blow to the acting profession, she is the one down spot of the movie taking the character of Daisy from the cute lovable character as portrayed by laura Harris and turning it into a character you wish would be reaped again in the whorst and most painful way possible. In short Sarah Wynter SUCKS!!! All in all though the movie is quite enjoyable and the storyline though unusal to the norm, turns out to be a great premiere if they would decide to turn bring the series back.
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. They may have the actors from the show, but they did not act like their characters on the show. While the show is a comedy, this is a drama. The plot was unbelievable, underdeveloped, unclimatic, and unresolved.
Ok, it sucks that we're missing out Rube (Mandy Patinkin), but it just wasn't possible. But for anyone that loved the series and really misses seeing that vibe, it's great to be back into it.
The only reason I gave this movie 4 stars instead of 5, is because they couldn't get all of the characters from the show to do the movie. If you loved the show, you'll love seeing where everyone is three years later. I'm not a big fan of the new "Daisy" but the addition of Henry Ian Cusick was great!
As for the show, I find it Xtremely amusing and very creative. I love all the episodes I've seen. Is this show still going? Sorry, I just have so much going in my life...I thought the show has so much to go on, and having smart writing is so beneficial, and deserves acclaim. I love this show. One of my all time favorites. I don't watch much tv, but I equal it with Seinfeld, South Park, American Idol and B:5 as my all time favs.
