A cemetery caretaker, a handsome college dropout, and a cross-dressing waitress attempt to protect a mute runaway from her abusive stepfather in director Michael Keller's quirky comedy drama. Cassandra is a teenage runaway with nowhere to go. Desperate to escape the clutches of her cruel stepfather, she flees to the cemetery where her mother is buried. There, she is watched over by Jorge the caretaker, an illegal alien who spends most of his spare time restoring a vintage 1960 Cadillac hearse. After nearly running over Cassandra over in his rusty VW bus, homeless college dropout Shore takes an interest in the gothic waif and does his best to befriend her. Just then, Cassandra vanishes without a trace. Realizing the potential for disaster should Cassandra's brutish stepfather succeed in finding her first, Jorge and Shore steal a hearse, and race to her rescue. Perhaps with the help of a compassionate transvestite waitress named Lola, Jorge and Shore can ensure that this crazy story has a happy ending.
