Van Damme plays the part of Eddie Lomax, a man who has reached the end of his rope. So with only a bottle of tequila, a handgun and his prized cycle, Eddie heads out to no man's land in the middle of the desert to end it all. In a drunken stupor, Eddie fires his gun wildly in the air, while he fights with his own conscience...which is embodied by his best friend, Johnny (Danny Trejo - ''Desperado'', ''Con Air'' & ''Spy Kids''). One of his errant bullets hit a truck that is passing nearby. Three locals with a bad disposition pop out of the truck angered, and beat him to near death and steal his prize cycle. He is found and saved by his indian friend, Johnny, now very much alive, and nursed back to health. This movie is the story of how Eddie exacts his revenge on the local ruffians and regains, not only his bike, but a sense of self worth and the love of a beautiful woman along the way. ''Desert Heat'' is different from any of the usual Van Damme vehicles, in that it tries to follow suit with black humor action as was portrayed in movies similar to ''Pulp Fiction'' or ''Hudson Hawk'', with a down south feel to it. Though some of the scenes were humorous, it ultimately fails to keep its viewers happy. Featuring smaller roles by Noriyuki ''Pat'' Morita (The ''Karate Kid'' Movies, ''Collision Course'' & ''Mulan'') & Gabrielle Fitzpatrick (''Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie'' & ''Mr. Nice Guy''). This is worth seeing at least once, but only the die-hard Van Damme fan would want to own it for further viewing.
