The decided to watch Dexter using the free two-week trial on Netflix during my winter break. This show was so compelling that I bought Netflix membership just so I could continue watching. I can say that I became a lot like Dexter, losing hours of sleep and planning my day around getting my next hit. It is SO beautifully made. Even the opening sequence is absolutely riveting! Everything is so well planned, every episode flowing so perfectly into the next that it's almost impossible to stop when you have all the episodes lined up next to each other. The acting is superb, most especially Michael C. Hall's. The music is so well timed, the setting beautiful, the special effects so very gut-wrenching. I can't imagine having to wait every single week for the next episode, which is why I've decided to just wait until the DVD set comes out so I can watch the episodes back to back. A word of caution to anyone who hasn't watched the series yet: set aside a LOT of time because you're going to want it all.

This is one of those shows that just grabs you and won't let you go until the ride is over. Michael C. Hall is outstanding as a sociopathic serial killer who only kills bad people that really deserve to die. Despite being sociopathic, his father, who was a cop, see's what Dexter is at a very young age and teaches him to behave "normally" and to curb his homicidal tendencies, only unleashing them on those members of society who harm others. Interestingly, Dexter works as a "blood splatter" forensic expert for the Miami police. The other characters on the show are colorful in their own ways as well and the supporting actors who play those roles are phenomenal.

This show is smart, funny, a little creepy and stuffed with men who are not too hard on the eyes. The premise of the show is so unique that it blows away a number of "slice of life" shows that are usually trite at best. I've already hinted that the second season would be a nice present to my family. Hopefully they're paying attention.

It takes a while to engage into this series because of the first 2 episodes, but once engaged, it's less about the serial killing and more about the relationships.

Dexter, obviously, is one of the best shows on TV. And watching the whole season at once on DVD is great. But many of the features advertised on the box are either less rich than implied, or they can't be accessed on your DVD player. And if you use a Mac, you won't be able to access them at all, since the features that require a computer are Windows-only. Very behind the times for a show that appeals to early-adopters. Ponderous.

This show is amazing and one of a kind. The humor is great and not &quot in your face&quot like mediocre comedy shows. It's also dark in the best way.

This show makes me miss what CSI use to have before it sold out to mainstream. I love how they use different camera angles, extend story lines and murder cases, and how they use different types of dialogue.

Dexter is a curiously deep, dark suspenseful TV crime drama that goes where no series has gone before! Initially, Dexter evokes your sympathy and loyalty why continually, forcing you to ask yourself: Why? What would I do? What does justice REALLY look like? Is justice ever truly served? The characters in this series are very well written and consistent in their roles. Far from predictable, this series will surprise, and at times shock you (maybe turn your stomach); the cast is spectacular! I can hardly wait for Season 4 to be released on DVD!

Without ever seeing an episode of the show, I purchased season one of 'Dexter' because of Michael C. Hall. He wowed me on 'Six Feet Under', and he delivers in this series. Though the supporting cast is solid and meshes well, it is Hall who brings this series to the next level. Every action of Dexter's is calculated and planned. Michael C. Hall plays Dexter as a sociopath who passes ever-so-convincingly in polite society, but the darkness is always there, flashing underneath his nice-guy facade. This is one of the most nuanced performances I have seen on television, and Michael C. Hall makes 'Dexter' into one of those shows that compels you to watch in marathon fashion.
