Overview

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood

Callie Khouri's adaptation of The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track by Khouri and star Ashley Judd, a second commentary track featuring Khouri and several behind the scenes figures involved with the film, a pair of featurettes, trailers, eight additional scenes, and a music video. This is a fine release from Warner Brothers for what it is, but a different edition with a widescreen transfer is available. That version is superior to this one.

I've never been more happy about online shopping. This is an amazing movie for mothers and daughters alike. I will definitely be returning to and referring this seller. Thank you.

Cute movie but it got sad. Still it is a good movie. Sandra and everyone did a good job, especially Ashley Judd. I just might read the book.

I loved this movie! I read all three books and have to say that the movie did a very good job portraying the characters, emotions and unique humor the book offers. Kudos to the director and cast!

For a chick flick, this movie was pretty good. Why they had to take Sandra Bullock out like that to explain something that she should already know was lame though. There are other parts I didn't like, but I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone that hasn't seen it. It's worth renting.

Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya Sisterhood is heartwarming and vibrant. It has been labeled as a ''chic flick'' and will most likely be compared to the likes of ''Steel Magnolias'', ''Fried Green Tomatoes'' and ''How To Make An American Quilt''...all movies that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Ya-Ya is no exception here. And yes, I am a man. These movies are more than just merely ''chic flicks'', but stories of relationships, friendships and family. And to me it is a shame that such films be reserved only for women when most men could most definitely benefit from watching and enjoying them as well. Ya-Ya had an excellent storyline, as we travel through the lives of 4 girls, who in 1937, form a secret circle bond of enduring friendship. But most particularly the life of Vivi (played by both Ashley Judd & Ellen Burstyn) and her struggles in dealing with her mother's mental instability as well as her own maternal instability later in life. Her daughter, Sidda (Sandra Bullock) and her eventually become estranged and resentful...so the now aged Ya-Ya's take approprite emergency action to bring mother and daughter back together again. There are heart rending memories as well as joyous ones...and a mix of good with the bad. A true tribute to family life, and what it takes to say ''I'm Sorry''. Most worthy of owning and having in ANYONE'S collection, not just that of a lady. Buy it, and enjoy it today!
