Don Juan 73
Of all the many movie starlets that have cast their spell upon cineastes over the years, Brigitte Bardot has to be at the top of the list as one of the most desirable. From her career-making role in her then-husband Roger Vadim's scandalous (for the time) film ...And God Created Woman to Don Juan (Or If Don Juan Were a Woman) (also directed by Vadim and Bardot's final film), Bardot oozed sex and an almost uncontrollable carnal power. In other words, she was a Star. This disc, which has been released by Home Vision Entertainment, presents the film in its original 1.66:1 aspect ratio (enhanced) and in its original French language with optional English subtitles. The transfer is very nice and should please fans. The disc is short on extras, but it does contain three U.S. theatrical trailers for other Bardot films, including the already mentioned Woman, Plucking the Daisy, and The Night Heaven Fell. A filmography for the star is also included, as well as some informative liner notes included inside the keep-case. If you've never encountered Bardot before, this apocalyptic sexual tour de force is the perfect place to start.
