Overview

Only a decade after reuniting for the hugely successful Hell Freezes Over tour, The Eagles once again announce their dissolution, but not before playing another tour together. Winkingly referred to as the Farewell One Tour, Eagles: Farewell Tour -- Live From Melbourne captures one of the Australian stops on this tour. The set list contains most every song any fan would expect, including "Desperado," "Hotel California," and "Lyin' Eyes."

Hell has frozen over again, perhaps for the last time, and the defining pop act of the 1970s has recorded a high-definition gem for the time capsule: Eagles Farewell Tour I - Live from Melbourne. Taped on HDTV in Melbourne, Australia's, Rod Laver Arena in November 2004, this soaring, 29-song concert DVD delivers the Eagles' considerable musical canon, from such soft-rock standards as "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and "Desperado" to the more guitar-driven hits of the Joe Walsh years, including "Heartache Tonight" and "Life in the Fast Lane." In addition to founding members Don Henley and Glen Frey, the Eagles on this tour include Walsh, who joined the band five years into its existence, in 1976, and bassist Timothy B. Schmit, who joined in '77. These Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees pride themselves on remaining methodically faithful to the original studio recordings, and they don't disappoint here. They also believe in serving up the hits -- which in this case also include chart-topping solo favorites from Henley ("Dirty Laundry" and "The Boys of Summer"), Frey ("You Belong to the City"), and Walsh ("Funk #49," "Walk Away," "Rocky Mountain Way"). With nearly three hours of music, two brand-new songs (Frey's "No More Cloudy Days" and Walsh's "One Day at a Time"), and bonus features, the Eagles - Live from Melbourne DVD is one for the long run.

This is by far my favorite music DVD. Anyone who likes the Eagles will be blown away. Anyone who did not experience them while they were together needs to watch. I could go on forever. I won't. Enough said.

The only things I found dissappointing with this DVD was I thought the audience would have been more excited about who they were seeing. They got more hyped uped towards the end but I don't think they really appreciated the concert they were seeing. The second thing was I wish they had play "Seven Bridges Road". A wonderful classic. Other than that, this is a must DVD if you love the Eagles!!!! Truly!!!! I think they have gotten better with time and I am expressing an opinion from seeing them at Cal Jam I in the early 70's. If you love the Eagles, this is a must DVD. I am so glad that I purchased it. And to hear old Joe Walsh tunes, going back so far to Funk 49, awesome. I was listening to the James Gang when I was in 8th grade and I am 53, 54 in December. This DVD is worth the bucks!!!!!!

This is a fantastic show from a group that still performs as if it was the 70's. They really put thier heart and soul into this production with no flaws. And they have a good time doing it.

A fabulous documentation of The Eagles much heralded Farewell I Tour of 2003, from the performance in Melbourne, Australia, the generous 2 Disc set includes a great amount of Eagle classics and favourites, 2 exceptional new tracks from their upcoming 2007 studio album, and a thrilling assortment of the best of each respective member's solo work from the 70s-90s. The Eagles are in fine vocal form, showcasing the famous four-part harmonies that graced some of their best recordings. The performances, instrumentally, are extremely impressive, and the extra muscle of the newly added four-man brass section adds an amazing new flavor to the group's classic sound. The picture and audio quality are all first rate, and one can only hope that this is a first in a long series of live sets available in the next decade of Eagle music.

This Farewell DVD is one if not the best ever. So many classic songs all on the 2 disks. The song No More Cloudy Days needs to be on a music cd.

Enjoyed every moment of the 2-disk video. Completely satisfied with purchase. Eagles on DVD almost sounded exactly like the Eagles of yesterday. Great sounds, all the hits. Band was entertaining, enthusiastic (as was the audience). Highly recommend the Eagles DVD. I have been disappointed in previous music DVDs that did not meet my expectations, but this is not one of them. Will definitely watch this one again and again.

I was really moved by "One Day at a Time".

Being a great Eagles fan I was disappointed how their vocals sounded. Glenn looks to be stuggling on sustaining some notes... It was not bad but "Hell freezed Over" DVD is much superior to this in instruments and vocals as you find out. The absence of Don Felder's genius acoustic guitar playing is missed. Too bad he got kicked off the band. :(

I was able to experiance the eagles LIVE at their farewell 1 concert tour. Yes, they may be getting older, but they have kept on truckin'...and still ROCK. Definately worth getting.
