Edward Scissorhands

Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands opens as an eccentric inventor (Vincent Price) lovingly assembles a synthetic youth named Edward (Johnny Depp). Edward has all the essential ingredients for today's standard body, with the exception of a pair of hands. For what is initially thought to be a temporary period, he is fitted with long, scissor-like extremities that, while able to trim a mean hedge, are hardly conducive to day-to-day life. When the kindly inventor dies, however, Edward is left lonely and cursed with some very heavy metal for hands. He is eventually taken in by Peg Boggs (Dianne Weist), an Avon lady who takes pity on him after seeing his bleak existence. Edward, in spite of his inherent ability to slay anyone he comes across, is a gentle soul whose only wish is to be loved. His impromptu family has, at best, a limited understanding of Edward, but he finds himself drawn to Peg's weary but sympathetic daughter, Kim (Winona Ryder), who is dating Jim (Anthony Michael Hall), the neighborhood bully. Meanwhile, Edward finds himself a local celebrity after the town realizes that his talents include creative hedge trimming and an unrivaled ability to cut hair. His so-called friends are proven fair-weather when Edward is accused of a crime, after which his only supporters are Peg and Kim. ~ Tracie Cooper

I remember watching this movie as a little kid, maybe 8-years-old,and I vividly remember the part where Edward is sitting alone on a curb when the town is searching for him and a shaggy dog comes and sits next to him,Edward reaches over and clips the hair from the dog's eyes, and the dog licks him in the face, that part made me really sad,I almost cried at the end. And Johnny Depp is so young in this movie compared to the deep tan and bumbling words in Pirates of the Carribian, this movie brings out the softer innocent side of the A-list badboy Depp, bolth movies he did an astounding job!I absolutly love him! I know he's in alot of Tim Burton's films,a good actor for them indeed!

Edward is portrayed as a real outsider trying to belong, but once you've seen the whole movie, for women especially, you see this handsome, sweet gentle man and you just fall in love with him!

This movie is really amazing. It's Tim Burtons version of Beauty and the Beast meets Pinnocio(however it's spelled). This movie is one of my favorites

This is my favorite movie. I bought the DVD without seeing it first because I knew I would like it. And I was right! This story is very emotional because most people can relate to Edward: the person who wants so desprately to fit in but never can. He loves everything, but hurts whatever he touches. He wants people to see him for what he is and not what he looks like (his hands). This film is very personal to Tim Burton, because he felt what Edward felt for most of his life. It's not all sad though, a lot of this movie is pretty funny. It made me laugh out loud. The music by Danny Elfman is wonderful, and Johnny Depp did a perfect acting job. Watch this movie, you'll love it!

I rented this movie, and I watched it 11 times in those 10 days (I rented it twice!). I cried every time I watched it, and I don't cry for just anything! I bought the soundtrack, and since I watched the movie so many times, the movie just rteplays in my head as i listen. The music is very beautiful and has alot of emotion. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

this was the second johnny depp movie that i saw, (after pirates of the caribbean) and it was really good. it's my third favorite movie, and third favorite johnny depp movie. i reccomend that you see this one after you see your first johnny depp movie, because if you see something like Ed Wood or Once upon a time in mexico, (as your second johnny depp movie) you won't get to good of an impression.

This movie made me look at someone that was different and say''there's nothing wrong with them.'' This movie gave thrills and spills. Even though this movie made me cry it was really inlightening.

Edward Scissorhands is based on the story starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. An inventor decided to make a man, but died before Edward, the man he invented, could have hands. Edward was left with scissors for hands. This movie is a very great movie. It has a mixture of love scenes, also, some funny parts, and some sad. I like this mainly because of Johnny Depp is in it. Also, it has a mixture of emotions.

This quite possibly, in my opinion, is the greatest fairy tale ever told. There is nothing but pure beauty and splendor in this film. It shows you how disgusting civilization can be and how it can take away from innocence. Tim Burton is one of the few genious filmmakers and I'm thankful he made this story.

Tim Burton's second best film, the first being Nightmare Before Christmas. This film captures anti-social, depressed, feel like you're going to destroy everything individual. This is Tim Burton's most involved film. The DVD is widescreen, great sound and a cool menu in which a book folds out to a castle. If you're a Tim Burton fan, I highly recommend you buy this DVD.

Even though I have only seen this movie once when i was really young I still remember. It was funny and sad and also frightening. (I accually was kind of scared at first). When he gave all the dogs the haircuts I laughed really hard because it was funny. And the end was really scary too because he killed the guy and he fell out the window that scared the tar out of me. Johnny Depp was really good in this film portraying a man with no hands. Another funny part was when Edward Sissorshand got all the face cream on his face and he looked really funny. All in all this was a really good movie and really good acting to it. The brain would probably have something to say but he wasn't here so Its just me Pinky.

I've seen this movie when I was younger and I just saw it again about a month ago and I don't know what I would do without this movie. Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors and this movie is very typical of him. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder were amazing together. This movie shows you what its like to be different and descriminating against others because of the way that they look which is a huge problem in our society. I think that Tim Burton has outdone himself with this movie. The costumes and makeup is amazing, along with the whole cast from the mother, to Edward himself. THis movie is one that would appeal to audiences of all ages, whether you like a little drama or a comedy this movie would be recommended for you.

Ok, so I just watched this movie today for the very first time in my life and I fell in love with it. People it will make you cry your eyes off..if you have a soft mushy chick flick side like me.I loved how Johnny portrayed the role of Edward and he did a fantastic job. It makes me wish they would make a sequal to it now...like that's gonna happen. Oh well...it's nice to dream.
