Michael Apted's literate thriller Enigma comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Apted, deleted scenes with optional commentary from the director, a making-of featurette, and trailers. This is a great disc from Columbia/TriStar which might help this film find a larger audience than turned out in theaters.

I thought the movie was so wonderful I don't know how I missed it in the theatres. The location shooting is fabulous, lovely English countryside. I thouroughly enjoy a period film and this one had it all, clothes, cars, and city scenes. What a wonderful suspenseful adventure.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It kept me guessing until the end. All the actors gave great performances.

I saw Enigma in the theater in fact, I went to an art-film theater because the local cineplex wasn't showing it. I loved it. The movie is full of WWII spy-intrigue and the ending is great. It was good to see Kate Winslet again, post-Titanic, and one of the good things about this film is that she's a bit plump in this movie, a nice change from abnormally thin actresses. You have to see this movie!
