If I was to live with only one anime, this would be it. I love the realism used, in the sounds they used to the way that things were depicted. A real must buy anime, you really don't know what you'd be missing in your life without this!

Escaflowne is one of the best anime series, ever. It's not just another fighting show, it has a beautifully drawnout plot, complex characters, and a story line you'll get drawn into... Enchanting. Something to watch over and over....and over.

Wow! That's about that only word that can describe this series. I first saw the edited version on Fox Kids as I was very interested to see if it would be a good anime or a stupid little kids show. What I saw amazed me. I was very disheartened when Fox took it off the air. I immediatly bought the unedited version DVD's and I have to say they are even better. In the unedited there are a lot of things you didn't see in the edited. The series begins with a high school girl named Hitomi, who has a normal life, until she meets Van, the prince of Fannalia from a world called Gaia. Van was transported to Earth along with a dragon that he must slay to become king. After Hitomi saves his life, they are transported back to Van's homeworld of Gaia, where the Earth and the moon hang in the sky. What I love about this series is that it has the perfect blend of action, drama, romance, and even some comedy. By the end of the 3rd or 4th episode you won't want to stop watching the show. This is a great anime title even, and for those who haven't seen anime, this is a must get.

Escaflowne is a powerful series which develops quite well after the first few episodes. It works well if you enjoy romance, although there isn't that much mushy stuff. It's a really good series to try if you're new to anime fandom, because it contains just a little bit of everything so you can develop your tastes.

I love Escaflowne! It's a wonderful series, with a fast-paced plot, a lot of action, and interesting characters. It really is a wonderful series and I have to admit that I got a little over-involved in the characters, but Hitomi and Van are such winning characters, and Hitomi is such a strong heroine without the writers having to resort to her being a Michelle Yeoh character or anything but an ordinary high school girl armed with compassion and insight. That said, the episodes on the first DVD aren't the best and aren't representative of how much better and more interesting the series gets. In the first few episodes, the characters seem flat and the plot a little disjointed, but gradually, the plot gets interesting, you get involved in the action, and the characters begin to take on a surprising depth. I will say that I was hooked by the end of the first DVD, so watch the first DVD and move on to the 2nd! Very enjoyable. Recommended.
