Overview

Etta James and the Roots Band: Burning Down the House

Rhythm & blues legend Etta James and her band rock the house on this concert video, which is given a strong if simple presentation on DVD. Etta James and the Roots Band: Burning Down the House has been transferred to DVD in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The disc lacks subtitles, closed-captioning, or any additional bonus features, but the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio mix certainly makes the most of James and her musicians, and ultimately the crisp audio and sharp images of the DVD medium result in a package that should please music fans with a taste for the blues.

Most people like her singing a lot, but I've never been much enthused. She does well in this show, though she spends the whole time sitting on her butt, which I don't like at all. 'My Funny Valentine' isn't her type of song. The sound is good, and the picture is OK. Her band plays well.
