Eye on History: D-Day

Eye on History: D-Day

The landing of Allied troops on the beaches of Normandy was a momentous occasion that marked a turning point in the course of World War II. Until that fateful date of June 6, 1944, the Allied forces did not have a stronghold from which to advance on Germany. The successful landing of the Higgins boats at Normandy changed all that, and sounded the death knell for Hitler's military machine. The program uses archival film footage and photographs to illustrate the story. Soldiers from both the Allied and Axis forces draw on their memories to recall the D-Day invasion. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter
