I am new to the guitar, and this video really helped me get started. My husband got me this DVD and a guitar for my birthday and I love it. There are over 50 lessons taught by a teacher who is very fun to watch and a great instructor. In the lessons they have 3-D grphics to show you exactly where to put your fingers, which really helps. This DVD also has looping play-along tracks so you can practice and practice without having to stop and push any buttons. This is an awesome instructional DVD...in no time I'll be a rockstar!!!!! :)
The discription says "beginner" but after viewing the video it is not for beginners. If you read other reviewers most of them have had some kind of exposure to guitar, and I didn't think that it matter, but it does. The first cord lesson assumes that you know cords and notes. I would not call this a beginner DVD because cords are what we first learn, therefore this is not a beginner video if you need to know them. 9 or 12 months from now, I think I will be ready for this "beginner" video since I have never played guitar. I guess it is personal understanding but when I have never played a cord and am expetided to know them, I don't call that "beginner". I have a couple of friends that have played guiter at pubs for 10 years and laughed when I showed them this "beginner" video. Of course they said it was not. I would not recommend this video at all unless you have additional professional instruction and use this as supplemmental. After sending back this I purchased a package from wwbw.com a Yamaha starter package. It was a very reasonable price, but the wonderful thing is the DVD that came with it was so different. I started with the basics and worked up to the cords that I have been working on from day one on the DVD and, I could play my guitar. I have instruction from friends as needed some times but they are amazed what I have learned from the dvd. I hope you all invist in a good instrument and dvd like I did from that website. Good luck to you all, as I have had, but again this is not for beginners.
