First Breath: Cradle in the Sea - Spotted Dolphin and Sea Otter

VHS

Overview

This documentary is one of a three part series on the lives of baby sea animals. This installment features the spotted dolphin and the sea otter. With spectacular under water photography, this installment shows the struggles of these charming infants as they learn to adjust to their marine environments. The baby spotted dolphin is a creature who is never alone. Excited relatives watch her every move, as the quest for successful negotiation of life's challenges begins. Chief among the dangers is the dreaded Atlantic hammerhead shark. The baby sea otter lives in a sea forest of kelp. The pup must rely on his mother for food, since his undeveloped physique is too buoyant for diving. His mother teaches him basic survival skills, such as caring for his extremely dense coat. This film shows the baby sea animals and their helpful relatives at their endearing best. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter
