Freddy Vs. Jason

Rumored and anticipated for years, the two biggest icons of the slasher genre finally meet in Freddy Vs. Jason, the eighth entry in the Nightmare on Elm Street saga and the 11th film in the Friday the 13th series, though with Jason X taking place in the future, it should be noted that the events of this film take place after the ninth film Jason Goes to Hell. And it is hell where Freddy Kreuger (Robert Englund) and Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, donning the hockey mask for the first time in a controversial snub against series veteran Kane Hodder) finally become acquainted. Banished there for eternity, Freddy devises a plan to manipulate Jason into continuing his work, hacking up the teenagers of Elm Street. All goes well at first until Jason realizes he's been duped by "the dream master" and is none too pleased. Coaxed by surviving teenagers Will (Jason Ritter), Lori (Monica Keena), and Kia (Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland), Jason and Freddy descend upon Crystal Lake for a mano a mano battle royal. Helmed by Hong Kong director Ronny Yu (Bride of Chucky, The Bride With the White Hair), Freddy Vs. Jason features the director of the first Friday film, Sean S. Cunningham serving as producer.

Before having seen this movie, I had not honestly seen the entire series of both Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, but I had seen enough of each series to know how utterly brutal both of these horror movie icons were, and quite honestly...this movie was downright intense! Freddy Krueger attempts to regain his power by making teenagers afraid again, but can't do so without help, so enters Jason Vorjese...who is quite the teenager's bane himself. Freddy poses as Jason's mother and tells him that childen have been bad once again and need to be punished. Through this, Freddy hopes to make children/teenagers afraid again, so that he can regain his power and start terrorizing within nightmares once again. In the process of this coo, as Freddy begins to regain his power, he begins to start trying to kill within dreams again, Jason continues on a rampage, interrupting Freddy's killing, so Freddy becomes enraged and decides it's time to take Jason out of the picture, but it winds up not being as easy as Freddy would like to think, and an epic showdown ensues between the 2 of them...and both of them refuse to die. Caught in the middle of this, of course, are a handful of teenagers, who are trying to figure out how to put an end to the terror themselves. With the exception of a few minor things that slightly bothered me within the movie, which are more than overlookable, this movie was straight up one of the best slasher movie spin offs I have ever seen. Truly entertaining and intense, and not to mention a little bit of comic relief, primarily as a result of some great Freddy Krueger one liners. Overall, if you love a good epic showdown and slasher movies, or are just a big fan of Friday the 13th and/or Nigthmare on Elm Street films, definitely give this movie a watch if you have never seen it!

My one complaint is the cast. None of the main cast can pass as teenagers, college kids near graduation maybe. If it weren't for a few scenes in the high school, I never would have guessed the main characters were supposed to be high school kids. Beyond that is Monica Keena: She's a good actress. She conveyed Lori's love for Will. Lori's friendship with the others. Lori's grief for her Mom. Finally, Lori's hatred for Freddy. All acted well. But how could anyone cast her to play an Innocent Young Virgin? She's drench in sexuality! The story was good. The Adults of Springwood had finally accepted Freddy was real and fought back. They treated Freddy like a disease to be quarantined. They eliminated all official and public records of Freddy. Then locked up any teen or child who knew about Freddy, and dosed them with Dream Suppressing Drugs. With no one remembering Freddy, he couldn't come back. With no one afraid of Freddy, he couldn't kill. Although the Adults had become quite monstrous themselves, they'd effectively stopped Freddy Krueger. Turns out the mystic dagger in Jason Goes to Hell, hadn't actually killed Jason. It had put him in an enchanted sleep. From which he couldn't awake on his own. So Freddy went into Jason's dream, and woke him. Freddy sent Jason to Springwood and Elm Street. He knew everyone would think Freddy was back. Freddy's name and story quickly spread like the plague. Soon every teen and child was afraid again. Unfortunately Jason was a killing machine. Once he was unleashed, Freddy hadn't any way to call him off. This gives the audience 2 powerful battles between Freddy and Jason. One in the dream world and one at Crystal Lake. Even in the Dream World Jason's adult form couldn't be killed, and even in the real world Freddy was already dead. It was flat out impossible for them to kill each other. Also this shows how Freddy and Jason are polar opposites. Jason first died as a child, Freddy as an Adult. Jason was a simple minded brute, Freddy a clever, sadistic, stalker. Jason was a Mama's Boy, Freddy hated his family. Jason first died by water, Freddy first died by fire. Jason was undead, Freddy was a spirit.

i loved freddy vs. jason, i also loved the rekindled romance of jason ritter and monica keena,it was one of my favorite combinations romance and terror, but i do hate how both freddy and jason survived after monica keena's character had almost died trying to kill them both.

in my opinion this movie was alright. But I feel that I didn't get enough of Freddy and jason. They showed too much of the kids. But it was fun watching Freddy and Jason tear each other apart. So I would recommend this movie if you've got noting else better to rent, or if your a big horror fanatic(Nightmare on Elmstreet,Friday the 13th fans). otherwise don't bother. because like I said. There's too much teen buisness that most people don't care about, but I guess you could forward through that.

It had really bad acting and spaecial effects. Most of it was nudity anyways. Plus, why did that boy at the end say"Freddy has ruined both of our pasts"? It just dosen't make any sense! I hated it!

Freddy Vs. Jason boasts that it is like clash of the titans. And when you think about it, it is. 2 of the biggest characters in the horror genre fighting has been an idea for many years. But does the move really show a clash? The answer is no. Most of the movie never really shows them fighting. The acting is, like many slasher films, terrible. Several parts of the movie are pointless. You might as well as just fast-forward to the end of the movie where the important fight of the movie happens. It is a movie that you only see once. When you really think about it, this movie is a letdown. Don't believe the hype. This movie is nothing what you think it is.

For the Freddy and Jason fans this movie is a sheer delight to watch. I laughed and was never scared but that was the best part about it. It was meant to be 'campy' and surely doesn't take itself too seriously, as should critics who reviewed the film! The only thing that could have made it better was more of the fighting between the two. I wasn't thrilled with the ending but it did leave you yearning for another sequel.

This is one slasher movie that won't be easially forgotten. The story is based on the diffrences of Freddy and Jason. Jason is yet again released from death and rises in Camp Crystal Lake. There, he is told by his 'mother' to go to Elm Street to kill the children, but it was actually Freddy trying to lure him there to ressurect fear so he can live again. But after he is resurrected, he can't get Jason to stop killing! Leading to a final battle at Camp Crystal Lake between the 2 most horrific killers of all time!

This movie was a horrible excuse to try and bring back two classic horror movie villains. It was a horrible combination to make. The storyline in my opinion was a little farfetched to be exciting and/or scary. Sex does appear through out this movie as a way to appeal to teens who are used to seeing this filth in other box office crashers like American Pie and Not Another Teen Movie. I was also a little confused by the storyline because after seeing ¿Jason X¿, another ¿thumbs down¿, I was made to believe Jason ended up in the future after falling through the atmosphere, the mask being the only thing to survive. But now he is back in the present fighting against Freddy Kruger, a horror villain who doesn¿t play by the rules of normal classic villains. This is something I don¿t recommend if your wanting to be scared to death, instead I recommend Ghost Ship or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Please humor me and don¿t give this poor excuse of a horror flick (more like an excuse to fill teens heads with sex and violence) any more credit than it deserves, which is none.

I loved the way that the CGI was great and i loved the way that this movie had a very big impact on me.

This movie should have been called 'The Battle for More Money!' It was perhaps better than Jason X, but certainly inadequate compared to the better of the Nightmare films. Without master thespian Kane Hodder behind that mask, this film has the feel of a two-bit UPN production. Robert Englund is no longer scary nor funny, he seems as bored as the rest of us. As I am one of certain millions who long for a reprise of his timeless role in 'V', I know he is capable of far more spectacular cinematic achievement. Enough is enough I say.

This movie was long overdue since I was in intermediate school about 10 years ago. When I saw the previews I was hype when I saw the movie it was off the hook. Freddy and Jason still kick butt and each other's butts, hopefully we see a sequel..hint hint. GORE GORE GORE..we want more!!!

When I first heard of this movie, I was excited. I grew up to both of these guys. But I watched the movie and was very disappointed. The nostalgia was a nice touch, but they over did it. But the part that really disappointed me was the fact that too many 'normal humans' interacted. I wanted a movie of THEM fighting, not just in the last couple scenes. I could think of a lot better titles, but Freddy vs. Jason is not one of them. If you actually LIKED this movie, you have bad taste.

This movie was not scary. Many people said that it was funny. NO IT WASNT. It's probably just worth renting. I own the whole nightmare on elm street box set and was excited to see this movie, but now i wish that i never saw it. Most of the parts in the movie were predictable. Horror movies these days arent like the ones in the 80's or early 90's. What the heck is going on. Almost all the horror flicks these days are computerized. This movie had the typical no no's in hollywood. All the high school kids looked like they were in their 20's. The girls were too fake and too hot. DONT BUY!!

I saw this in the movie theater and my sister said i love it

Let me start of by saying that of course this movie is horrible, but that is what I expected. That isn't to say that I didn't love how obsurd it is however. I find it more funny that some of you had high expectations for it being more then it is. The movie name alone tells you that they had to think of something ridiculous to give make this storyline even possible. This movie is just entertainment for fans who felt like one more fix of their old favorites.

this movie is great. Anyone who is a Freddy or a jason fan must love this film, otherwise they're not a true fan of these legends. Its probably the best sequel for both series

I am proud to say I am a fan of horror especially with the release of this movie. Never in my 22 years have I seen a movie better put together Im also happy with the ending because my fav wins (wont get into). This movie had me on the edge and laughing at the same time it was about time these two villians got face to face. And anyone who thinks its to gory or violent is a wuss. I'll be watching this movie when I get it on the 13th and I will be 15 weeks pregnant and hopefully my child will show an interest in this genre. So worth the money I would pay a million dollars to see it if I had to. The only bad part is Kane Hodder didnt play Jason so thats my only problem.

This movie is predictable and not scary. It's funny and exciting at the end. It's sort of a bad and good movie and creepingly pleasurable, rent the movie and don't buy it!
