Filmmaker Virginia Williams offers a through-provoking look at Afghanistan's first-ever democratic elections in this documentary following the remarkable campaign of Dr. Massouda Jalal - an idealistic politician and devoted mother of three who boldly defied the Taliban to offer hope to her war-torn nation. A devoted children's advocate, Dr. Jalal was the only woman in a pool of seventeen candidates. Despite the fact that Dr. Jalal was threatened with assassination numerous times during the course of her campaign, she fearlessly appeared in mosques, busy markets, and city streets on a tireless mission to spread her message of hope. According to Dr. Jalal's philosophy, it is the hard work of normal, everyday Afghans that will ultimately determine the outcome of this fragile, fledgling democracy.
