This movie is the complete package. It has beautiful cinematography, wonderful artwork, the best music, complementing every scene to perfection. The actors are amazing and the story is simplified and modernized brilliantly.

Gwyneth Paltrow, as Estella, is at her seductive best in this contemporary adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, Great Expectations, and Ethan Hawk, as Fin, masterfully exploits his reputation as the intellectual, sensitive type. This remake of the 1946 movie, which more closely follows the 1860 novel, is well cast and gives a fresh look into the genius of author Charles Dickens. Although this version is subject to mixed reviews, I am one who loves both the novel and this movie. If you¿re into romantic drama, such as am I, you¿ll love it too.

This is my favorite movie. I find it to be a beautiful rendition of raw emotions and overcoming life's obstacles.

Firstly, the Americanisation of this quintessentially English story ruins all of Dicken's original intended meanings. Secondly, the plot just doesn't blend well when it has been given an overly-modern setting. Thirdly, it is almost a desecration of classic English Literature to produce degenerative trite like this. Deeply disappointing, and mostly annoying.

This movie dissapointed me to a great extent. These are world class actors and in the end this movie ends up to have a very low quality. I was very depressed by this movie.

This mordern day adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic ''Great Expectations'' is everything short of the classic novel: it is way too modern. First of all, too many of the characters names were changed. This confuses the veiwer. Secondly, Dinsmoor is too obviosly the name of a ''dismal'' person. She was not as passionately cruel as one would have expected. And Herbert...where is he? This is just way too different from the book to be considered an adaptation. And on top of that, the original novel was not as racy as Gwen aand Ethan make it out to be. This is tashy Hollywood s**t that is not even worthy of watching!

This is story of love, hope and redemption. When I find my self weary of the world and all of it's hopelessness. I put this movie on and things are not as bad as they may seem. In the end, as in all good Dickens novels, love and hope triumphs over all. A great movie, a great novel!
