Harry and the Hendersons is a feel-good movie with a message, but mileage will vary from viewer to viewer. For me and my young family, this was an hilarious account of the conversion of father (John Lithgow) from an avid hunter to a defender of Bigfoot, because the creature is revealed to have personality, intelligence, and perhaps a soul. The Henderson Family, the Scientist (Alan Ameche),and the Hunter (David Souchet) are all affected by their encounter with "Harry". The extras will show you how this magnificent creature was created, in the era before computer graphics. The film made such an impression on my six-year-old daughter that on holiday in Montana she noticed another diner at a restaurant and asked "Is that the guy who was in Harry and the Hendersons?" Sure enough, it was John Lithgow. My daughter quietly approached his table and asked if he was in Harry and the Hendersons. Lithgow responded, "Yes. That was a good movie wasn't it?" And it was a good movie. For fun, dramatic tension and redemption, this family-friendly movie could be a long-remembered event. It has been for our family.

This movie stands the test of time. It still looks good, the acting is great, and the story is sweet. There is some language that we didn't expect in a family movie. Guess it was cut out when we watched it on TV when I was younger. Still not too bad for kids.

It's been some time since I've seen this movie, but I highly recommend it for any age. It's sweet, funny, and you fall in love with Harry from the very start, no matter what he does. I just wish it would come out on DVD!!

I fell in love with Harry!!! I have started taking hair growth medication to be more like him. My friend Vance and I watch Harry together each Friday. You will love this film, I don't care what Ebert said! The only thing that could have improved Harry would have been a staring role for the ''Hot nasty chicken'', Jackie Chan
