This film could stand on its own if it were not connected to the first movie. The biggest mistake on the part of the producers and director was that they rushed to to capitolize on the first films success. For some reason I like this film on its own. The problem lies in the fact that it ignores the plot line of the first film. One of the greatest crimes commited in this film is that the music score by Stewert Copeland is overshadowed by the fact that the film was not recieved by the fans very well. However, it is because of the score that I view this film independantly from the original. As far as continuity, it fails to keep it in anyway shape or form. But I must admit that the music along with Conner's dileama has captured me and I like this film on its own. I love the original movie and I feel the confusion that all Highlander fans feel, but I stand by my personal feelings about this one. See it for yourself and make your own mind.

Highlander 2 is classic because of its stars and because it is the continuation of an imaginative story. Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert work well together in their continuation of the Highlander story, along with Virginia Madsen and Michael Ironside. The special effects and alternative ending are so much fun to watch. The interviews with the cast and crew make for wonderful time spent in front of the television. The deleted scenes and extra features are also wonderful. It¿s obvious that the actors and the crew worked hard to bring us this film. This film is well worth the time, money, and energy in my opinion!

In my own personal opinion for the reason they made it the way they did is because they wanted to explore it on another idea. Yes the whole idea of immortals rocks, but why not try a different approach like what they did in this movie the immortals came from a different planet. The whole idea just changes they way you have to look at it. Now if you haven't seen the first one you should watch that one then before you make any remarks about it think of WHAT IF????

Bad... bad is the only way to describe Highlander 2. I enjoyed the first Highlander immensly and firmly believe the story should have ended there... because it did end... Connor MaCloud won the 'prize' he was the last immortal left and all was good...but for some reason (money) someone got the terrible idea to continue this series and even start a television show about it. Crazy. When thinking of the so called Highlander franchise this reviewer will stick to the movie catch phrase it made famous of 'There can only be one'.

While it may be able to stand on it's own due to the acting of Connery, Lambert, and Ironside the script ruined that as well. The story of the second movie doesn't continue the first in any way other than the names of the characters. MacLeod states in the second movie that he is an alien but in the first movie talks about knowing someone since he was a boy. It's this and other loop holes like it that ruin the continuity of all the films, the story as a whole, as well as soiling the experience of watching the previous movies again. If you haven't watched the original, I highly recommend watching it and skipping all of the other Highlander movies.
