Honor Flight

Honor Flight

DVD (Color / Wide Screen)

Overview

Over a half-a-century after the end of World War II, the citizens of a close-knit Midwestern community unite to send the surviving veterans of that historic struggle to Washington, D.C. for the official unveiling of the WWII memorial in 2004. The trips, dubbed "Honor Flights," are the nation's way of giving thanks to the brave soldiers who laid their lives on the line in the name of freedom, and humbly returned home to continue their lives without ever seeking honor or glory. As the stories of the surviving veterans and their journeys to the memorial unfold, their courage serves as an inspiration to the friends and family members who stood by them through their greatest struggles.

This is a wonderful documentary! Very moving, even my husband was brought to tears. We had had the pleasure of viewing this movie in a theater.. While people were filing out, we spied an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair. We inquired if he was a vet and if he was in the movie. He said he was not in this documentary, but that he had been on one of the many other honor flights. He had been overwhelmed by the experience. We thanked him for his service and proudly shook hands with him before we left the theater. I later bought the DVD and then bought others as gifts. Feedback was all good. Recipients were passing it on to others to share. I cannot recommend it enough. You have to see it.
