Yet another classic television series from the 1960s gets a big-screen update in this action-comedy inspired by the Bill Cosby/Robert Culp vehicle I Spy. Alex Scott (Owen Wilson) is a federal intelligence agent who has been assigned to find a particularly expensive and valuable weapon which has gone missing: a special stealth fighter jet which can not only hide from radar, but also turn invisible to the human eye. Scott learns a rogue agent has sold the jet to Gundars (Malcolm McDowell), a powerful and unscrupulous underground arms dealer. After blowing his opportunity to catch Gundars in the act, Scott formulates a Plan B -- it seems Gundars is a rabid boxing fan, so in order to get inside his organization, Scott recruits Kelly Robinson (Eddie Murphy), a longtime middleweight champion whose ego nearly exceeds his talent in the ring. Robinson is excited by the prospect of a life of espionage, but Scott and Robinson's personalities are like oil and water, and matters are hardly helped by the efforts of less-than-helpful fellow agents Rachel (Famke Janssen) and Carlos (Gary Cole). This adaptation of I Spy was directed by a woman who starred in a memorable television series herself, former Hill Street Blues regular Betty Thomas, who has gone on to a successful career behind the camera.

I don't even need to write a review because all I'm going to say about it is not even close to nice.

I, for one, actually found this movie pretty entertaining. I had bought it a while ago, but had only ever seen part of it, but then I sat down recently and gave it a watch through, and I actually enjoyed it. In some ways, it reminded me of certain titles like the Rush Hours and Shanghai Noon & Knights...except that it was a spy story instead, and instead of Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson/Chris Tucker, it was Owen Wilson and the ever so hillarious Eddie Murphy. I actually thought it had a few pretty decent scenes of action, and I found myself laughing frequently in it, especially at Eddie Murphy. He is so funny. Would I call this movie great? No, but I did find it enjoy it and found it rather amusing. I myself would actually recommend this one...though not over the Rush Hours or the Shanghai's though...because I was more entertained by those, but yeah...I don't know why this movie was so hated. I like it.

I can't see why some people would bother to see this movie. I only saw half of it and got bored. This movie is the second worst film next to Gigli.

A smart but nerdy spy (played by Owen Wilson) must team up with a boxing champion (played by Eddie Murphy) to recover a stealth fighter plane that is stolen by a crooked, rich businessman (played by Malcolm MacDowell). Meanwhile, the heroes work together with a mysterious, sexy spy (played by Famke Janssen). I had high hopes when I started watching this movie because the trailer made it seem like it would a good action-comedy. Boy was I disappointed! This movie is not funny, the actions sequences are dull and boring, and the dialogue is just plain stupid!! I kept looking at my watch wondering when this movie would end. My friends and I had one word to describe this movie after we watched it: TURKEY! It could have been a much, much better movie, considering the talented cast. I was really disappointed. Don't waste your time and money on this movie.

I didn't bother watching the rest of it. Acyually, I wish I never rented it. It's so terrible, it should be along side with the worst movie of all time, Gigli.
