When one of Tate High School's most popular teachers seduces a 14-year-old-freshman and the school fails to take responsibility for the matter, the young student's parents take matters into their own hands in this topical drama inspired by actual events. As the leader of Tate High's winning football team, Coach Nash (Gary Cole) is a popular figure that many of the students respect and admire. When Coach Nash crosses the line and seduces 14-year-old freshman Amy (Nicholle Tom), rumors begin to fly and the shy young freshman is consumed by shame. Following a frightening confrontation in which the increasingly erratic Coach Nash threatens suicide, Amy admits to her mother that the rumors are well-founded. Dismayed that the principal had written off the accusations due to Coach Nash's high profile status within the administration -- and convinced that his subsequent jail sentence isn't enough to protect other students from falling prey to other potential sexual predators -- Amy's parents seek the help of a sympathetic lawyer in preventing a recurrence of the traumatic incident.
