the insider is no doubt a great film. Filled with remarkable acting, beatiful cinematography, and excellent music this film has it all. Veteran director Micheal Man (Heat, The Last of the Mohicans) really pulls it off again. I really enjoyed russle crowe's performance as well as Al Pacinos. The one thing I don't understand is why did Gladiator make Russle Crowe famous and not this movie?

This film, about the first successful lawsuit against the tobacco industry, is gripping! The performances by Russel Crowe & Al Pacino are incredible. If the topic interests you at all, you MUST SEE this movie!

This is a true story of a man who decided to tell the world what the major tobacco companies knew about the dangers of their product. Jeffrey Wigand was a scientist employed in research for a tobacco firm. Soon after he was fired Wigand came into contact with a producer for 60 Minutes who worked closely with journalist Mike Wallace. Bergman, the producer, arranged for Wigand to be interviewed by Wallace for a 60 Minutes expose on the cigarette industry, though Wigand was still bound by a confidentiality agreement not to discuss his employment with the company. Despite Wigand's willingness to talk, CBS pulled his interview from at the last minute afterthe tobacco company threatened a multi-billion dollar lawsuit. The staff of 60 Minutes and CBS News were soon in an internal struggle over the killing of the stor. Even though Wigand's full story did not see the light of day, he found himself the subject of lawsuits and a smear campaign.

The Insider can not be any more realistic and emotional. We need more films like this one out there......it's very important. The Insider is one of the top 10 films of 1999 no doubt about it! great moments- Jeffrey's daughter looks at her father while his television interview is playing on the television............she's proud of her daddy! Jeffrey, in his hotel room, realizes what kind of mess he got himself into. he sees his daughters appears on the wall of the hotel room..... the music.........any scene.......the music is excellent......buy the soundtrack!!!

I mainly rented this movie because it was nominated for 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture, it was directed by Micheal Mann, and Al Pacino (one of my favorites) stars in it. I wasn't let down because of the amazing acting, directing, cinematography, screenplay, etc. The 4th best movie of 1999.

This is one of the best movies of 1999. Full of dramatic provocation and wit, and when you combine that with excellent acting and directing, it makes for one heck of a movie. If you are a Russell Crowe or Al Pacino fan, you will love this picture.
