This is a wonderful movie for anyone. If you like to cook, and or blog, you might like it even more. It's a feel good movie that is also inspiring. I watched it and decided to start blogging. I like the fact that is is based on 2 true stories. I think the actors as well as the entire team did a fantastic job with this movie.

A delicious, decadent film that tantalizes your taste buds and delivers pure entertainment joy. Nora Ephron takes two separate stories and marvelously weaves and intertwines their loves, their frustrations, and their quest for purpose into a wonderfully entertaining film. Meryl Streep seems to channel Julia Child herself nailing both Julia's distinctive voice and gestures. Gaining an intimate glimpse of the more personal side of this iconic woman was beautifully told through Ephron's writing and the dynamic chemistry between Streep and Stanley Tucci. Amy Adams is absolutely delightful in her portrayal of a woman questioning her purpose, yet vehemently resigned to finishing the daunting task she started. The lesson of working diligently toward a goal regardless of setbacks or failures and ultimately finding a layer of truth about yourself is what life is all about. It is also what binds the two stories and the two characters together. The costumes are gorgeous as are the sets. The film is beautifully shot depicting the beauty of Paris and finding the beauty in NY and Julie's apartment. This film is inspiring, endearing, and magically delicious.

Of course, Meryl Streep was brilliant as Julia Child. I was not a fan of Amy Adams before I saw this movie, but she did a great job. (No one can compare to Meryl Streep - that's not Amy Adams fault.) A couple of reviews referred to Amy Adams as being "whiny". I think that is unfair. The person she was portrayimg is a real person who worked for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation's call center. Every day she took calls from and tried to help people who were victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She wasn't whiny, she was sad and depressed.

I was already a fan of Meryl Streep so was sure I would enjoy the movie before I saw it in the theatre. Also always enjoyed watching Julia Child's shows on TV so was interested to see the portrayal of Mrs. Child. Just loved the movie, found it both funny and sweet at the same time. I really enjoyed the scenery and location the movie was filmed. The costumes are very authentic; there really is nothing I could suggest to improve this film. I saw this with a group of females and the movie audience seemed to be mainly female so don't know if this would appeal to males as much as females. I liked enough tom buy the movie when it became available for purchase.

I read the book before watching the movie. I must say, this is one of those rare isntances where the film is much better than the book - and that`s because of Meryl Streep, who gives heart and humour to the movie, and becomes larger than life. It would be very hard to compare meaningfully the lives of Julie, living an uneventful, courageless existence in Queens, clearly unhappy with everything in her life, and wanting more (but always taking the easy way out - like taking someone else`s life and trying to live it, and thus give meaning to her own?), and Julia, who became a master chef defying all odds in France. I read Julia`s own book about her time in France and that actually gives you a very different perspective, but that`s another story. It is not Julie`s life and story what lifts this movie, but Julia, and her immense love for food and respect for cooking, and most of all, Meryl Streep, who is amazing, brilliant and hilariously funny. That`s the only reason why you should watch this film.

This is an exceptional movie, providing us with insight into the lives of two wonderful women, who through the movie quite frankly, motivated me to start writing a blog! Exceptional fine cast of characters!

This movie is truly charming. Meryl Streep was a perfect Julia. I've read Julia's Life in France & she was spot on. The movie stays with you & makes you want to be a better cook. Our dinner club is having our next dinner be from the cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Should be fun.

If you love cooking and/or watching cooking shows, you will love this movie. Meryl Streep does such a great job of playing Julia Child that you think you are watching the real person. It's no wonder Streep is up for an Oscar for this one. I loved it.

When the movie first came out, I thought that must be a stupid movie. It turns out that I thought it was quite cute and enjoyable, and learned a lot about Julia Childs which I did not know.

I don't know how Meryl can look and act so much like Julia Child, but she does an amazing job. I found myself completely forgetting that she was not actually Julia! The premise of this movie is that a young woman (Amy Adams) has challenged herself to make it through Julia's first cookbook in a year, and to blog her results. She works full time, so must juggle the time it takes to buy all the ingredients she will need for her newest recipe, and then have time when she gets home in the evening to prepare the dish. Several funny scenes ensue. This movie is a worthwhile see - but don't expect a great movie - just an enjoyable one.

"Julie & Julia" is completely dee-licious! And you don't have to be a foodie to devour it. Norah Ephron weaves not one, but two slices of life, one of Julie Child, and another of an admirer of Julia's, that melt your heart quicker then butter in a copper skillet. Lucky us, also, that Ephron was smart enough to blend a stellar cast. Watching both Streep and Tucci, bounce off Adams & Messina, respectively, is like being served up a main course everyone can share. And don't flake out on the commentary. It's there for a reason, to blend the facts & voices as one. Treat yourself to a winning dish!

I'm a big fan of Meryl Streep and Julia Child so this movie could just touched me! And it did ! Meryl Streep as always, is amazing, it's a delight to see her as Julia Child, she has just the perfect touch to make it credible when someone else could have been ridiculous. Love it!

Even though I knew Nora Ephron was not capable of making a bad movie I was a bit apprehensive about this one. I had read both books. Loved the one about Julia Childs. Hated the Julie and Julia book. I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to make a movie about her. Well, I felt the same way about the movie. The parts about Julia Child's life with her husband were wonderful. Truly sweet and romantic. Her life was amazing. The parts about Julie, the blogger were so irritating. First off who is interested in anyone who whines as much as she does and who thinks the way to make a name for yourself is to climb on the shoulders of someone who is already famous. Did she really not understand why Julia Child might have been the least bit offended by her effort? As to the performances--Amy Adams is a fine actress. But I did not feel this was her best. She came across as a Meg Ryan wanna-be and that only added to my eye-rolling. Did someone tell her to do the imitation or was that her take? Clearly you can see I did not enjoy this part of the movie. I was always happier when it went back to Julia Child. And might I say Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were superb. I heard someone say that with Meryl Streep in a movie you never remember who the other actress was anyway. It was clearly the case here. Not only did she have the better role, she was the better actress. I'm sure some think this is just a chick-flick but not so. My husband liked it too. The reason I didn't rate it any better was because I only liked half the movie--the Julia Child half. Nora should have made a movie solely about Julia Child's life. We would have been captivated and never missed the other half of this movie about......I forget!

Excellent. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci are up to their usual standards of performance. Quite surprised at how well Amy Adams did in the part. Entertaining and engrossing.
