Keeping Up Appearances: Life Lessons From Onslow
When he is not smoking cigarettes, drinking beer and watching horse racing on the television, Onslow, Hyacinth Bucket's ne'er-do-well brother-in-law on Keeping Up Appearances, can often be found in more cerebral pursuits. In addition to his requisite reading of The Racing Post, he is also seen to peruse The Principles of Condensed Matter Physics, Life among the Primitives and The Financial Times. Beyond these rather esoteric reading habits he has cultivated a taste for courses provided on UK television's Open University.
Which brings us to Life Lessons from Onslow. In this 60 minute special, Onslow has been green lighted to teach a credit course on Open University and has selected Successful Relationships as his subject matter. In this "introductory lecture," he addresses the underpinnings of healthy human interactions, using "real life," examples from the world of Keeping Up Appearances. But as long time viewers will recognize, most relationships within that series come up woefully short of success. But there's certainly no shortage of laughter!
