Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
Like its bestselling predecessor, Left Behind II is a solidly entertaining supernatural thriller infused with millennial Christian evangelism and inspired by "end times" prophecies from the Book of Revelations. When global chaos ensues, a desperate world turns to charismatic United Nations president Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie) for leadership. Only a small group of people, led by TV journalist Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron), knows the truth: Carpathia is the Antichrist, and his rise to power presages the Apocalypse. This tense, fast-moving sequel picks up where the first film left off, with millions of people having vanished into thin air and the Antichrist paving the way for the Final Conflict. Left Behind II covers the same ground recently trod in the Omega Code movies (which, like the Left Behind films, are produced by evangelical Christians); but rather than being annoyed by the obvious similarities, true believers will see it as reinforcing their heartfelt convictions. Others will enjoy it as rousing entertainment. Dramatically speaking, the film is a little bit ham-handed, but the production values are solid and the acting free of condescension. Cameron and his real-life wife, Chelsea Noble (veterans of the TV series Growing Pains and conservative Christians themselves), make a fine onscreen team and help ground the film's fanciful premise. The DVD version includes a "making of" documentary, cast and crew interviews, deleted and extended scenes, an alternate ending, and a feature-length director commentary.

I loved this Movie. It really stayed true to the ''Left Behind'' books. It is fiction but a good clean Thriller. The Cinemaphotography was a lot better than the first movie and some of the Actors seemed more comfortable in their roles.

I thoughtt that both one and two where amazing. It makes non beleivers think about god and beleivers think about how they can do better. I loved it

This is a must see for everyone! Ten times better then the first! Great acting! Way to go cloud ten pictures!

Alas, I was interested in watching this film...just as I was interested in reading the book: And they both were horrific. Timothy LaHaye, the supposed 'writer' of these books (ahem as to both 'writer' and 'books'), shows his religious fanaticism in these stories - and, true believers, they are just that - stories. Here we have Kirk Cameron (show me that smile, Kirk!) doing his best (umph!) - and his best is just not good enough. Al Pacino himself - or God himself - couldn't save this film. What ruins this film? The screenplay. What ruins the screenplay? the book? What ruined the book? The value of 'sucking.' They all stink. They have no literary value whatsoever (the words printed on a baseball card have more literary value) and are worthless in social merit. Instead, they cater to a fringe movement of 'apocalypse now' Christians who believe that (as they have for 2,000 years) the end is coming soon and that all non-believers (including this United Methodist, I would think) will be 'left behind.' The film fails because it gives in to this fanaticism. But, please, don't blame the film: Blame the guy who made it and the millions of mindless evangelical boobs who watch it every day, praying (preying?) that the end of the world will come and that we evil unbelievers, homosexuals, atheists, communists and, alas, Gore 2000 voters will be sent to the eternal firey bliss known as hell. What an ending!

I loved both the movies. Can't wait to see the next ones. I have read all of the books and feel that they are 'right on' with the information that people need to be aware of. If we are wrong, no harm done. If we are right, ... well that is something that we don't want to chance. Lot's of good thought-provoking information in these movies.

The books were amazing, and I was very pleased to find the movies are just as good. Director Bill Corcoran managed to portray all the emotional turmoil of the characters without turning this into an over-dramatized cry fest. *thumbs-up* Kirk Cameron is superb, as are his co-stars. I could probably go on for hours about how great this film is, but I won't. If you are a christian you will love this one. If you aren't a christian you will love this one. If you are an anti chritian... rent something else.

This movie was okay, the first movie was better though. What I find rather cheesy is the girl singing an American religious song (Amazing Grace) in Israel, by the wailing wall. Angels don't sing like American pop singers (Christina Aguilera). Also, the end is even cheesier. 'Great, we did it. We beat the Antichrist!' Come on guys, get real. That's not how it works in the trubulation era. The Antichrist is a tough bone to chew, and only God can beat him. A few words to this Demon Jarez guy (Suares? whatever the heack his name is) and to this Craig guy......Get over it !!! You losers. Of course you are going to HELL, down with all the other pathetic members of your kind. My pit bull 'Mona' has more morals than you, Suarez. And, 'My parents made me watch it.....' Craig, you better freaken GROW UP, man !!! PATHETIC, that's what you guys are. It is faith in the living God that makes us civilized people, real human beings.

I'm not sure why reviewer Damon Suarez had such a problem with this movie. But he's right about the Religious content. But that's no surprise. The books are based on the bible theology. So if you're easily offended by overt Christianity, don't watch this movie. Otherwise enjoy! I did.

This movie as well as the first one were amazing. There is nothing that I can say that will be able to relay my appreciation for this movie. I am also a huge fan of the book series. I have not been able to put down the books during my free time. I hope that they continue to make the movies, cause I think that so many people will be amazed at what they will see in the movies and might become interested in the books. I personally didn't even know that there was a book series until I saw the first movie and I instantly became a fan of the series.

I think anyone who is interested in the bible will find something in these books, if nothing else just a little more understanding of what is to come. Yes they are just stories but, putting characters in it helps to personalize the stories, all of the characters are one of us . I have read all but number twelve and would reccomend them to anyone who is interested or maybe even just need more understanding.

The Biblical interpretations from the authors of the Left Behind books are a good, solid idea of what humankind has to look forward to. I'd recommend everyone to read the books, and see the movie if you'd like to see the actual action described in the books. Jesus is coming back and whether all of us experience what the books and movies show or not depends on how soon He comes. It's definitely good to be prepared, and it's definitely a good idea to get to know and accept Jesus our Savior.

see the first movie Left Behind. I pray for the persons who do not belive this . if we are wrong oh well if not are you o.k. with being left behind ? . ask God to speak to your heart before you are left behind. And may God bless America. watch the movie and pray about it.

I think religious movies disguised as horror movies is unintelligent and deceitful. Theres nothing scarey about the first Left behind movie which my parents made me watch. thinking I was going to be converted. I think kirk cameron is a Loonie, and I think the books and movies is only a Walmart Crass Comercial phenomenon. And I say Phenomenon lightly and I don't care if I spelled it correctly or not. I've read the book of revelations and the guy who wrote that was a Nut case in Greece. That book was wild but Total Malarky. When I saw the movie I was hoping to see The Great Whore of Babylon, and I wanted to see here get eaten, and I wanted to see the beast and all that. That movie was weak, and so is this.

This really makes us think and remind us what we need to do before the Rapture. By getting saved (Salvation) you can guarantee a place in Heaven. God Bless you all, and please help me pray for those who need to be saved. My overall opinion is just wonderful, God's word is loving, kind and great! God Bless you all!!

Amazing, Kirk....making a film such as this really shows how you are sticking with your faith. Good going. From an old friend.

The Left Behind Books are tediously and exhaustedly researched for Biblical accuracy. While the characters are of course fictionalized, the scenes and situations depicted are those of the authors' imaginations based on End Times prophecy outlines described within the Bible's books of Revelations, Daniel and Isiah. As with any book-to-screen attempt, every word and every situation captured in print will not be played out on the big screen. But the producers and directors have done a wonderful job of following as closely as possible within the confines of a meager budget. The Left Behind movies serve as wonderful outreach to the ''nonreading'' population. Whether the viewer sees it as descriptions of truth or plain entertainment, they are sure to walk away with a sense of awe. And though the books (and now) the moveis are wonderful, they should never be substituted for the real thing. God Bless.

The books and the movies are bases on prophecy in the bible. The story is an adaptation about several people who have woke up to changed world, via fullfillment of prophecy.Their lives have changed and new challenges are presented as they enter their quest to save(as in accepting Jesus as their savior), as many people until Christ comes and to stay alive until the Glorious Appearing! Too bad Mr Suarez either is not a believer in bible,or bible prophecy or has not read Revelations.Rev. Smith

Saw the first Left Behind and tonight I saw Left Behind II. They are both great!!! I can't wait till the next ones comes out on DVD. A must see for anyone that has questions about the Bible.

I found it rather riveting, though I dont believe that the beast will come from Romania;also, the time of ''peace'' during the seven year reign of antichrist is 42months,not 18.

I personally recommend this movie to anyone, I thought both of them was great!! But the book's are even better, they literally Brought Me To JESUS,and opened my heart and my mind, That Jesus never leaves us we leave him! Keep the Faith

Left Behind II was THE best movie that I have ever seen. It is now my favorite movie ever! I watch this movie almost ever single day! I know all the lines yet i still cannot get tired of it. I have read all of the books up-to-date and have fallen in love with the characters. I think that the actors have done a great performance in this movie, along with the rest or the crew. I hope that leftbehind III and IV will come out soon and that there will be future Left Behind films after those! Also, note to the casting department, great job and keep the same actors for all Left Behind films! There is such a stong spiritual message in these movies! Please hurry and release Left Behind III!!!

Left Behind 2: Tribulation Force is what i think the best movie. The acting is great. With the actors they have have it makes the whole movie interesting and very actioned packed. Having just seen the movie last night-- i think that it is great. what makes it even greater is knowing that some of th cast are believers in God. I think that makes their determination to act this one day reality out the best !!! Keep it up!! I'm ready for the 3rd movie now!!!
