At first I wasn't sure I was going to like this show, but by about the fourth episode I was hooked.  I don't know what else to say except it's an incredible series (if American TV were more like this gem, I would actually bother to watch).  The producers got the 70s down perfect, and there's tons of great music from the era, which in my opinion just makes it all the more realistic.  The characters are very well cast, as well.  Philip Glenister does a bang-up job as DCI Hunt, and Liz White is adorable as Annie.   John Simm does an awesome job as Sam Tyler.  All the way around it's an awesome series, and by going only two seasons they wrapped it up without anything getting old. Without giving away the ending, I'll just say it made me smile AND cry.  I'll be watching this series again and again!

Sam is a modern day British detective who is injured and "wakes up" in 1973. Although this could be the set up for a comedy, Sam goes through real culture shock, trying to fit in with his new police team who are certainly not PC. The real key to this show, however, is not the plot, but the actors. John Simm is amazing; I can't imagine anyone else in this role. As his police partner foil, Philip Glenister embodies the 70's tough cop. Watch it for these two actors, who are surrounded by a great supporting cast. Finally, the Brits have the right idea. The story arc last for 2 seasons and culminates in a twisty ending. No spoilers, but it still makes me think. This is my favorite British series ever.
