In L.A., Desmond, an international tycoon's fix-it man, arrives from Sydney on Oceanic 815 and is given a difficult "babysitting" chore. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, Sayid brings Desmond to the Locke monster's camp; and Ilana plans a Hydra Island raid, but before they set out, Michael (Harold Perrineau) appears in a vision to Hurley. Meanwhile, Zoe shows up at the camp, and she doesn't come in peace. In L.A., Sun and Locke are brought to the same ER, and arrive at the same time; Desmond seeks out Claire when she enters the office building where her adoption agency is located; and Det. Also in the hospital, Claire seeks out Jack, who offers to put her up while she's in L.A. "We're family," he tells her. ~ Paul DroeschLocke's motives become clear in an episode tracing the early years of Jacob and the Man in Black, who are raised on the island by the woman (Allison Janney) who delivers them minutes after their shipwrecked mother (Lela Loren) washes up on the island. She names the firstborn Jacob. As for the second, "I picked only one name," she tells her midwife. ~ Paul DroeschOn the island, Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley set out in search of Desmond, but they meet Jacob.
