Not sure why this movie got such a bad rating. I'm guessing because people didn't read the book first and weren't expecting the emotional ending. Maybe? I don't know. I, personally, did read the book beforehand, and what caught my attention during the movie was how well the book had been adapted for the screen. All the important details were present, and a variety of techniques were used to gloss over the events that weren't necessarily important to the narrative, but were just too funny to leave out. I thought this was a very well-made movie, and it deserves better than the 2 1/2 stars it holds as of this writing. Wilson and Aniston deliver wonderful, heartfelt performances, and the dogs playing Marley exhibit different qualities at different stages of his life, while still keeping his exuberance and (oftentimes) overzealousness for life. In my opinion, this was one of the few movies that lived up to the book. Both come highly recommended (especially to all you dog-lovers out there!)

This is a great film! The first half of the film is entertaining, but it's not until the second half that Marley & Me starts to morph into an engrossing and downright moving piece of work. The movie's final half hour packed a far greater emotional punch than I anticipated. To me this film is up their with other film's such as Old Yeller, and My Dog Skip!

Terrific film. Every bit as good as John Grogan's book!

Such a sad movie in the end, overall a funny movie that expresses what all people go through, "life". Marley is a great dog! This movie provokes emotions, it's happy, funny, serious and of course sad.

Not as good as the book but then how could it be. Great movie!

This film is nearly as great as the book, it has great performances, and has a mix of drama, comedy, and romance here and there, you will love it! The best family film of 2008.

This was a one-shot success story from Mr. Groban because hey - who can't relate to a dog story? It just doesn't play out well on film. Jennifer Aniston comes off shrill, and I kept looking for Owen Wilson's wrist scars. Mr. Wilson has 1 acting mode, and that mode played out 3 movies ago. SPOILER ALERT! The dog dies in the end.

I read the book first (long before they mentioned a movie), and I fell in love with it immediately. I was very excited when I heard they were making a movie from it, but missed it in theaters. I bought the movie knowing I would like it. And I did and do. But I did not love it. What I was afraid of happened...they were unable to fully bring out the sweet humour from the book into the movie. Many of the funnier scenes from the book were contrived and too staged. It would be impossible to completely convey the emotions of the book, but it is still a very enjoyable movie...funny and sad. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston do the best job they can with the script, although their is no chemistry between the two actors. They are still great comedic actors with plenty of charm. And the dogs are wonderful...how could you not fall in love?

This is a great movie that was very true to the book it is based on. Anyone who owns a pet will understand the bond and love that pet brings. This movie really highlights what special family members our pets are. Funny and touching, a great way to spend a couple of hours

I am a huge dog lover, this is an inspirational and emotional movie. I read the book before seeing the movie, and found the picture extremely well done. I knew about the ending, but I still cried. It also reminded me of Benny, Jesse, and Mandy and the happy times we had. This is a must read and see for all you dog lovers out there. Mary Enfinger

I wrote a review when this first came out on DVD which some people felt I spoiled the plot. Now, I see there are other reviews for this DVD which also spoil the plot but they have not been removed. Let me say this... 1. This was a wonderful book, heartfelt and touching. For anyone who has losta beloved pet, it will move you to tears 2. Children under the age of 6 SHOULD NOT see this movie, the ending is too disturbing 3. The Director (who also did Devil Wears Prada) does the end of the book a diservice the way he "abruptly" ends the movie...roll credits. In all my years with B&N I have never seen so many reviews removed for one movie. Let's face it, most people who see this moviehave read the book and knows what happens.

I had read the book first and loved it. Considering they only had 2 hours to tell all the fun mischief that Marley got into I think they did a pretty great job. Great movie when you need a good laugh and cry. The Book is better. :)

I enjoyed the movie mainly because it brought back such fond memories of the big dogs I have had. Yes, they drool, tear things up, fail obedience school, etc., all the bad things so lovingly portrayed in the movie. But they also have a great capacity for loving and protecting and when you lose them, there is a gaping hole in your heart. I did not like Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston as the leads...they detracted rather than added to the movie. The movie made me cry at the end but it was a good cry, not because of the movie but based on my wonderful memories of Bandit, Max and Miss Amy!

When i first herd of Marley & Me i thought that it was going to be another film about a dog and his master, but when i saw the film i was totally amazed. This great movie is not just about a dog and his master and how close they become, it's about how important any type of animal can be to a family in a ruff time in their life. But really Marley & Me is a heart felt movie that is great to see with your loved ones.

"Marley and Me," is a wonderful tribute to man's bestfriend. A very touching and moving film that's fun for the entire family. This film has a deeper meaning as it guides one to realize just how precious life is and how fast life moves.

I wished I would have read the book first...I didn't like the movie at all, the beginning was hilarious. I believe this movie can be traumatizing for children, as I went to bed with an awful rememberance...don't want to see this movie ever again. I wished that it would have ended more happily, like the movie Turner & Hooch...where life begins all over again and we are left with a happy feeling.
