Overview

Misery

Rob Reiner's effective adaptation of Stephen King's Misery comes to DVD with two different images. The widescreen transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame 1.33:1 image. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. Spanish and French subtitles are also available. Supplemental features include a collectible booklet, the original theatrical trailer, and a teaser trailer. Though the film is short on extras, Kathy Bates' Academy Award-winning performance makes this a disc worth watching.

Wow. This is one of my favorite Steven King movies. Everybody in this film is witty and funny. You even get a couple of laughs out of Annie once and a while. James Caan's performance is brilliant. The torture that he goes through makes you wonder if he was better off being shot to death in The Godfather. But the best performance has to be Kathy Bates who plays Annie. Even though this is just a movie you can't help but think if Annie is real. Bates's performance is not only scary but enjoyable. It's just amazing at one time Annie can be a nice nurse that takes care of Paul. But all of a sudden she's bringing out a sledge hammer on his ankles. That kind of thing we don't see a lot. And I am very happy to see something that different.

This movie was so good, it almost isn't worthy of a review. That's the magic of Stephen King, he can take a seemingly rediculous scenario and make it totaly believable.

Bates does an outstanding job at being the ''bad guy.'' Stephen King has an awsome mind for making anything scary.

This movie was great. I gave it 5 stars because it was awesome. Here's the description. A novelist named Paul Sheldon drove off the road and got bruised a little. He winds up in the home of Ms. Annie Wilkes who is his #1 fan. He doesn't remember winding up in her home. Annie is a little coo-coo. Her moods switch. She has a pig named Misery. She thinks that Mr. Sheldon killed her. After a few days, in the news, Paul was presumed dead soon.(But Paul is really alive, but no one knows.)One day, Annie buys a typewriter and lets Paul write the rest of his books. When Paul found out that Annie was a murderer, he knew he was in danger.

A suspensful thriller! A must see!I loved the book and the film. Kathey Bates gives a great performance as the crassed Annie Wilkes. Even though some parts are changed from the book I still loved it!
