One of the first corporately created boy bands to find success with the music public, the Monkees were initially created for the development of a television series. Both the series and the music were much more successful than anyone could have imagined, with the series lasting three seasons before finally yielding to changes of taste in the American music scene. The television series mostly involved the mop-topped quartet finding themselves in comically outrageous situations, which they were then forced to resolve. Included in this dual-episode set -- volume number four from a series of 16 two-episode sets released by Rhino Home Video -- are the episodes entitled "Hitting the High Seas" and "Monkees in Texas."
