After exploring the worlds of toys and bugs in the two Toy Story films and A Bug's Life, the award-winning computer animation company Pixar delves into the realm of monsters with its fourth feature. Hulking, blue-furred behemoth James P. "Sully" Sullivan (John Goodman) and his one-eyed assistant Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) are employed by Monsters, Inc., a scream processing factory. It seems that the denizens of their realm thrive on the screams of kids spooked by monsters lurking under their beds and in their closets. It's the job of Sully, Mike, and their co-workers, including sarcastic Randall Boggs (Steve Buscemi), crab-like CEO Henry J. Waternoose (James Coburn), and lovely snake-headed receptionist Celia (Jennifer Tilly) to keep the frights flowing. When Sully and Mike are followed back into the monster world by a very unafraid little human girl named Boo (Mary Gibbs), they are exiled to her universe, where they discover that such a modern-day mythological specimen as the Abominable Snowman is a fellow refugee.

2001 brought two great animated movies, first came Shrek, and Monsters Inc. John Goodman also had a voice in the Emperor's New Groove (2000) and once again gives himself away. As the movie opens, Monsters Inc's top scarer James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) is getting ready for work and lives with his assistant Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal). Mike's girlfriend Celia's (Jennier Tilly of Liar Liar and Stuart Little) birthday and is going to take out to dinner after work. Monsters Inc is in the city of Monstropolis. And the owner (James Coburn) doesn't want Monsters Inc to close. And Sullivan's rival (Steve Buscemi) wants to be #1. But first he will have to collect more screams than Sullivan. Mike is a walking talking eye-ball. And Sullivan is a giant monster, which may be why he is one of the company's scarers. Buy this with Shrek, if you haven't bought either movie yet.

I went to see this movie immediately after I came out of watching Harry Potter, which had made me cry from sheer disappointment. Boy, was I glad I saw Monsters, Inc! This was hands down THE FUNNIEST MOVIE OF 2001. Give yourself a great gift and BUY IT NOW!!! You will not be sorry you did. I LOVE IT!!!!!!! Shrek, shmeck...

When Shrek came out, it was hailed as the new wave of animation, and had praise showered on it like a hose. However, what we failed to realise was that it was just the beginning! Monsters Inc is a far superior movie with far superior characters, visuals, and a plot line, something that Shrek wasn't too hot on. I challenge all of you to go and buy/rent/see Monsters Inc and not laugh at all, especially during the ''put that thing back where it came from or so help me'' scene, or any scene with Roz in it. In my opinion, Monsters Inc is the best animation movie ever, and the best thing you can do for yourself is to buy the DVD!!!

Monsters Inc., starring the hilarious John Goodman and the equally hilarious Billy Crystal, is the story of James P. Sullivan (Sully) and his one-eyed pal, Mike Wazoski. One day, Sully accidentally lets a child, the most 'toxic, vile thing known to monsters' into the monster world. It is up to them to return the child, Boo, back home before she is discovered. I was amazed by the design of this film. The environment is incredibly crafted and the characters are unique and original. Another amazing part was Sully's fur, which moves like real animal fur with wind and movements. The music is catchy and upbeat, the plot is deep and competely original, and all the characters are loveable. Pixar and Disney hit the nail on the head with this classic. It is my favorite animated film of all time.

As an adult, I really enjoyed watching Monsters, Inc. I found it to be extremely humorous (you'll laugh each time you watch it); however, I was disappointed to see that Monsters, Inc was rated G. It should have been rated PG, as many scenes warrant parental guidance. There are different parts of the movie that can be frightening to small children. At least ten different scenes portray violence, one of which involves strangling. Language inappropriate for small children is used (i.e., ''you st-p-d, pathetic...,'' ''you id--t,'' ''j-rk,'' etc). The DVD came with a lot of interesting extras, such as how the movie was made. It is incredible! Pixar did an amazing job with the graphics of this movie.

This animated tale about two "monsters" becoming protective and loving toward a little girl who is supposed to be terrified of them is a sheer delight. I remember its theatrical release, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and thinking: We all need a life-affirming movie like this, especially now. The charm has not worn off - and never will. If you get to Disney World, you've got to visit the comedy club based on this movie.

I saw this movie with my sister-in-law and we both loved it!! The animation is spectacular and it is so funny as well as heartwarming. I just fell in love with the little girl Boo. As soon as it came out on video I knew I had to have it for my collection. I told my husband I was buying it for our 20 mos old son but I know I will be getting alot of enjoyment out of it as well!! The added features and outtakes are hilarious!! I would recommend this movie to everyone!!
