Muppet Treasure IslandDirector: Brian Henson
Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of a young orphan who becomes involved with pirate Long John Silver is given the Muppet treatment in this vibrant children's musical. As in The Muppet Christmas Carol, the film stays loyal to the original storyline but casts the well-known puppets in many of the supporting roles. Young Jim Hawkins remains human, as does Long John Silver, played by an amusingly exaggerated Tim Curry. However, Captain Smollet is played by the evergreen Kermit the Frog; Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and Rizzo the Rat serve as roving narrators; and numerous other Muppets assume smaller roles. The familiar adventure plot is enlivened by the Muppets' good-natured, winking sense of humor, and a number of anarchic musical numbers are reminiscent of the original Muppet Show. Long-time followers of the Muppets may find the film less fresh than Jim Henson's original creations, but the combination of old-fashioned storytelling, intriguing design, and clever humor will undoubtedly amuse younger audiences.

best muppet movie.
A wicked film that you can sit through without having to think that much, great acting from Tim Curry and Kevin Bishop!
I watch/listen to this every time I'm cramming to get homework done. You work faster when you're having fun!!!
Adventurous! Joyable and funny for the whole family!
Ok, so I gave it 4 stars on "intellectual stimulation". That might be an exaggeration, but I did see this movie TWICE in the theater! One of the funniest kid-friendly movies ever.
this is so a classic that's like treasure island just with muppets. ms piggy has always been my fave puppet when i was little next to kermit and gonzo especially the bear forgot his name and the rat.
This is one of the best Muppet movies. The Muppet spin on the classic story from Treasure Island is very entertaining. Tim Curry is fantastic as Long John Silver. We took our children to see this in the theater and bought the vhs version when it came out. Our oldest child wanted the dvd to watch with friends in the university dorm as a stress reliever during exams. For an evening of great family time you can't beat the Muppets!
This is one of the best muppet films I've seen in a long time. My husband and I have gotten so much laughter out of the jokes that have been on this film, since we both first saw it. He quotes them all the time! I really love the story and how it all links together in the great tradition of awesome muppet story telling. I will be forever grateful to Jim Henson for giving us such a wonderful gift of entertainment that many generations will be able to enjoy for years to come.
this is a great movie i love how tim curry brought out the character of long john silver and the way he interacted with the muppets was hilarious. he is one of my idols.
This movie was great! My 4 year old and 2 year old LOVE this movie. They watch it almost every day and have memorized all of the songs. This film is also for adults, and I find myself sitting down to portions of it every time it is on. Definitely a keeper.
